I don't know if this has been covered in any other discussions.. but isn't it going to suddenly be very easy for us to upgrade the CPU? If they are (as is being stated by Apple) standard Intel CPUs then aren't we going to able to go out and buy the …

I think you have the same problem a friend of mine had. Basically it's that you need at least OS 10.3.4. There's a solution on Apples support pages . Hope it works for you.

I've a 17" 2Ghz iMac and had zero problems with heat even when leaving folding@home running on full processor for hours on end at 30ºC+. This mod just makes me weep to look at it

You'll love it. It's a beautiful, intelligently designed and powerful machine. I've got the 2Ghz model with superdrive and 1GB of Ram and it works really well. All the iLife apps are quick, DVD encoding is very fast and iPhoto with 6000 pics i…

And the answer to my problem is stunningly obvious. It was set to burn MP3 CD's. Has Tiger changed my iTunes prefs? Not sure but I never burn MP3 CD's so maybe it was my mistake, maybe it was Tiger. Now I just hope this embarrasing post sinks fas…

I've just discovered that it's not just the Amelie CD but anything that I've ripped in AAC. IF it's a playlist with MP3's and AAC's the AAC tracks go grey and it won't burn them! I've only just got this new iMac so I guess it must be something to so…

MCE do a self install 8X DL DVD burner for the Powerbook. Not bad for $199.

Apple's definitely changed the shape of the 17" iMac logic board. The revision b board has a user replaceable lower fan, before it was incorporated into the logic board. I'd imagine that this would affect it's chances of going in a 1st gen. G5 iMac.…

I don't know if anyones mentioned this already (and yes, I did search the forum) but Apple now lists the lower fan in the Rev. B iMac 17" G5 as being user replaceable! I have a real problem with the noise from my iMac g5 (Rev.A) and Apple are re…

The 250gig in my G5 iMac is a Maxtor. Don't know if the 400's are the same.

I think you'll have to buy that USB adaptor and hub. There was quite a bit of dicussion when the G5 iMac came out as to whether you could buy and fit the internal BT module. The answer seems to be no as it's part of the logic (mother) board.

I'm sure you'll have it up and running in no time. On that same site is the distinction between the 1st and 2nd generation emacs: 2nd generation=800MHz and 1GHz eMacs with ATI Radeon 7500 graphics chip 1st Gen=700MHz and 800MHz eMacs with GeForce2…
