Or alternately, instead of waiting for AT&T to install new towers, maybe Apple should be offering the iPhone on other networks that don't have "weak signal" spots as frequently as AT&T.

Before moving to the EDGE iPhone, I was on Verizon and simply assumed that the days of dropped calls, patchy coverage and missed data were over. Verizon's coverage was so complete that it seemed to me, that all service providers must have met that l…

If there was ever a justification for pirating software, Adobe is at the forefront of making a case. CS3 isn't a decade old legacy program; its not even three years old.

The advantage Apple would have in letting other devices sync through iTunes would be extracting a licensing fee from the makers of other devices. Apple would then broaden control of music distribution through the iTunes Store, and still earn money f…

This seems silly for Apple to participate unless they are licensing the iPod connector cable. Its very easy to charge an iPhone-- everywhere you go someone has an iPod cable.

Why then wouldn't "existing" customers simply terminate their current contracts, pay $175 ETF (or less if they have a prorated ETF), and sign up as a new customer?

Seems like a poor management decision. If there are available slots in the middle of the day, and not enough slots on off peak hours, then simply migrate employees from middle of the day shifts to evening and weekend shifts.

It makes a lot of sense on a Touch, especially if a future iphone differentiates itself further with video capabilities. Having a camera added to a nano though might add bulk, which is sort of the point of a nano. What Apple really needs to do is ha…

You can't sell a premium product in the midst of major economic depression and expect to continue gaining market share against discount competitors. Apple products are obviously superior, but at the end of the day, right now, the price is keeping a …

The problem Apple is facing is that even though they are producing superior products, with a slowing economy and race towards the bottom by PC manufacturers, their premium pricing scheme is not going to hold up. The iMacs start at $1200; a low end D…

Its probably all about the bottom line; booths are expensive marketing tools and if the economy worsens, businesses and consumers are not going to be running out to buy $1,000 software programs.

Besides all of the "third-rate tourist merchants and rip-off artists" on 34th Street, there are all those middle-America tourists too. Mullets and Apple products just don't go together.

This is a bad time to try and launch a new product, even if it is an Apple. The financial meltdown is stealing the thunder of any news story. While their sales will get a boost from a new line of laptops, it might seem a little ostentatious to trot …

Apple is just as much at fault of course, because they made the decision to give AT&T an exclusive deal.

If Apple really cared, they simply would have sold all the iPhones as unlocked devices everywhere, at the same time. The decision to create exclusivity contracts with particular carriers got them into the mess, and now they have to deal with it.

More importantly, how much will they sell the mandatory unlocked version for?

And thus explained the second Golden Gate Bridge. One for the iPhone OS, one for OS 10.6
