One of the big lessons of CES this year was that USB 3.0 is going to become a dominant standard. Every company that makes any kind of external storage had devices on display. Nearly every computer on display had the ports. No one is waiting for I…

Can we stop complaining about Intel's integrated graphics now? The reviews are out. Here's Anandtech's comparison of gaming performance, which includes a Geforce 320M Macbook. And OpenCL? **** OpenCL. Get Apple/Intel to provide a QuickSync driver…

The link works fine for me, but I can't give you any opinion on the store.

The only hardware implication I can think of is that, if it is 64-bit only, then the first Intel Macs will not be supported as the Core Duo (not 2) was a 32-bit processor. But I'd give that about a 50/50 chance of happening.

DVDs and CDs develop bit errors over time. The quality and type of the original media, the settings it was burned with, and its storage conditions all affect how long it takes to become unusable.

I don't get it. He said Time Machine only had backups to last Monday, presumably when he replaced the hard drive, but why didn't he restore the prior backups to the new drive? And where is the old drive? This is, like, Basic Computer Maintenance…

Time Machine doesn't like to share. It wants a drive all to itself. However, you can divide a drive into multiple partitions, one for Time Machine and one for storage.

Here's hoping an iMac redesign makes them easier to maintain. At least make the hard drive user-accessible.

Refurbished from Apple.

A good rule of thumb for CPUs and GPUs is that if it is stable, and not throttling itself, then it is not in danger.

I use and would recommend an Intel X25-M. They're not the fastest or the cheapest, however.

Still have a 2002 iBook G3, and it still works perfectly. Not powerful enough to play YouTube videos (or any other videos), but it works. Battery lasted over an hour the last time I fired it up, too.
