You can easily have multiple video cards. Just have them be PCI. I don't think you can run a game on all of them at once, but it's been done for years.

Does anyone know what price Toshiba intends to sell these new HD's at?

Hmm, don't see it. Maybe they took it down. I'm not saying I don't trust you, but we'll all see in 40 minutes, + up to 2 hours

Apple doesn't have the pull with Bush to get that done. Among other things, Jobs is a big Democrat. Dell's the man Bush thinks is king in computers. They get along well. Just another area where my realms of politics conflict internally. May…

Appearence? Well, remove the "glory hole", replace with kickass speakers bundled. Make the handles stick out less. Add an button to eject the CD-ROM tray. Add support for two 5.25" drives plus a 3.5". Support better cooling option. Add liquid …

But these consumers are expected to handle iMovie, and perhaps iDVD. Those can be easily AltiVec accelerated. Not to mention the possible gains Aqua could have if newer versions (say 10.3 or .4) knew that most all users would have G4 processors, b…

Do y'all know where the "under the seat" tradition started? It was Mac128k's at the original Macworld.

mslee - The problem with an IBM MOT alliance is that they don't crossover much. MOTdoesn't have much to offer IBM except money. Motorola will not use IBM as a foundry for two reasons: I. IBM makes their own chips. If they need the fab space,…

That's a very good list of Pro's. I want to think we'll see the G5, but I'm terrified I'll get my hopes up and they'll be dashed. I'm particularly worried about the G5 and associated stuff being rushed out. If there are bugs, serious incompatab…

The all in one form factor had ended with the Color Classic (and TAM, I suppose) in the consumer market. After that the AIO models were education only. All the Performas I knew of were box and monitor jobs.

What they're talking about selling is their Semiconductor Manufacturing division. "The Register" reports they have already cut deals with TSMC and and another place to produce for them. You know, given how crappy their Quality Control is accor…

I'm lucky my CC doesn't cover that kind of stuff, what with the Christmas bills I won't have gotten added on as well. Otherwise I'd be Citibank's whore.

Well, I'd get the kid a little card saying "Good for one Apple iBook after Jan 7, 2002" or something like that. Think how bad they'd feel if you bought the last of the old model line as it was updated somehow. 2 weeks is a short enough time to…

Well, at UT whenever I see a tangerine iMac is just [i]fits in[/it] so much better than all the other colors. It must be something about everybody being obsessed with orange and white, but it looked plain better. And when my old HS got a lab full …

To the MPEG-2 post above - You're suggesting MPEG-2 compression on the camera? What would compress it, the onboard G4? I thought that was a severely taxing process...

Possible? Probably. Realistic? Not very. Remember those DVD players that look like Discmans with a 5" LCD? It'd be like that, maybe a little samller, but then you'd need a different storage medium. It could be done perhaps, but I don't reall…

Remember the rumor that SGI was looking into using the G5? I know they stopped most/all work on their MIPS line of processors. So I see it as quite possible that if the G5 panned out SGI ditched Itanium and moved to it. But: What if Apple bought…

If Steve throws iPods wrapped in padding at the crowd (or whatever tny thing they come out with) I don't think anyone will mind.

MWSF Iliad? Hahaha... that would rock. "Steve, who could have passed for a god, flung his spear, which pierced the nipple of Dellpedon, breaker of computers. Mighty Applememnon then struck Gatescus in the stomach with his sword of bronzewire" …

Oh man, that was great. Kinda what I am predicting too, although not in verse. (I can't remember the meter that's written in, it has something to do with 12) Do you mind if I repost that with attribution to the Macintoshian Achaia on Ars Techni…
