Well I certainly hope others use it! I doubt MS will ever jump on board, but perhaps, since this is going to be implemented at the Darwin level, it will be ported to The BSDs and Linux. So I think the first places that we'll see it is on the Ope…

I would not put too much faith into that sites benchmark tests.

Are you sure he wasn't just talking about the new iPods coming from Apple, i.e. 20 gig and the Windows stuff.

From what I've read Apple is planning on pushing PCI-X for servers and High end use, and 3GIO for standard users...

Why can't people just get the replacement they want? I mean pro people generally have their own ideas on what they like. I use a trackball, I'm sure other people out there hate trackballs and prefer mice. But why should Apple make that choice for…

I don't care about Mhz, or Ghz, what I care about is the MIPS. Millions of Instructions Per Second. That is an actual messure of how much power the processor has, but even that is not accurate to the performance of the computer. Obviously Bus S…

Everyone keeps harping on 4 processors not being usable, because the apps need to be parallelized. This is true if you want the one App to run faster on your box, but what if you have tons of apps all running at the same time? The OS will schedule…

[quote] From the way it sounds, no Altivec and only 600-1000Mhz? Note: SIMD is Altivec. Altivec/Velocity Engine are a type of SIMD instruction unit. SIMD stands for Single Instruction Multiple Data in reference to the style of multi-unit …

[quote] Any app written in a high level language (C, C++, etc) for OS X, either Carbon or Cocoa, could be easily recomplied for x86 or the 64 bit extension of x86 used in Opteron. No rewrites necessary. The only sticking point would be PPC assembly…

Why not just by a complete PC for the same price? I mean there hardly is any difference. Just saving space really.

I don't think they need it. Maybe a thinner version of the iBook would do, but that would be it. I think the iBook is plenty small...
