Two septembers ago I had a similar problem with my Apple Studio Display (Flat CRT) when I was in 1600 x 1200 at 64 Hz. I never figured out a solution until the problem simply disappeared when I changed dorm rooms the next year. Upon asking around …

I named my computer Hammer, not after the tool, but the legendary and immortal hero from The Runelords by David Farland. This computer better last me long enough to be referred to as legendary, or someone I know and love will have a new, very unfla…

He's a midget, and can only reach the 10th floor button on the way up. The button to get to the ground floor was never a problem. Blueflame [ 07-15-2002: Message edited by: Blueflame ]

I went looking around at various international Apple webpages and found the old stats for OS 10.1. Note the listing of the OS 9 CD beneath the picture:

Ahh thanks StarfleetX! Now the rather large number of CDs I heard about makes sense. So perhaps OS 9 is included in the "OS X CDs" phrase on the page. I guess I'll find out when I buy it. Blueflame

I was under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that the pre-release builds of Jaguar were multiple (six or something like that) CDs. Wouldn't something that big to begin with end up on at least 2 CDs? Blueflame

Hmm... Good point, those who are upgrading from 9 can already update to 9.2.2 for free anyways, and 10.2 works with that (supposedly). Too bad for all those users still running OS 8... Blueflame

It appears as if System Preferences wants to impose some sort of hierarchy to my web browsers. If I have IE on my system, it will always open clicked links (like in e-mails) in IE. If I get rid of IE, it uses Mozilla. If I get rid of Mozilla it f…

I am having the exacty same problem as you. I too installed IE 5.2.2 when it came out, and now I have neither IE (no loss) nor Mozilla (annoying since I have to use it for my CS class). Anyone have any ideas? Blueflame

Hmm, strange problem you're having. Can you install a bootable system from the bootdisk you're using and then install off the windows v.1 disks? Hopefully it won't go *blaugh* because VPC comes with PC-DOS, not MS-DOS. Give it a shot! Blueflam…

Something you might have over looked... press apple-D when in Virtual PC to open the disk assistant. The second option on the box that appears will allow you to create a new floppy disk image that VPC WILL be able to read. Just a thought! …

Something I thought I should mention: the link Defiant provided is for an ADC to DVI connector. That will only work for connecting a card with ADC to a monitor with a DVI connector, not vice versa. To connect the Radeon 8500 (with DVI and VGA…

Formac also sells an external SuperDrive, but it's really expensive:

Xlr8 has two such devices. Both hold only 2 drives however.
