TechCrunch says it's so (but doesn't explain how they know). Gruber says it's BS (and backs it up with a statement from Google). AppleInsider runs the story as though it's credible. Not that it'll make much difference to them, but I've just de…

I'm surprised they didn't mention the cost of supporting Blackberries.

That's good to know. My MBP has that chip and has had some pretty severe graphics problems. Every so often the entire machine will seemingly lock up, but the cursor will still move. After 20 seconds or so it starts to respond again, but only for abo…

MySpace? Really? Okay? So does anyone find it weird that Facebook and Google have standalone apps when they have such great web apps? I guess dropping the overhead for display data will make things snappier.

So as an experiment I deleted all of those files. My Applications folder went from 2.3 GB to 500 MB? then shot up to 5 GB. I have no idea what the hell is going on here, but I'll be restoring my backup when I get home.

This is a great idea. After inverters, the backlight is the most frequent part of LCDs to die. With the exception of impact damage, the actual LCD matrix generally doesn't die. It's doubtful that they would make the backlight user-serviceable, but h…

Apple actually used to ship machines with such drives. The slot-load iMac G3s were able to take the small discs if they were round. At some point they stopped using those, it seems.
