Not true. I do not know of any modern PC that does not have sound (DSP chip?) built-in to the motherboard. Newew ones even have 5.1 capabilities built-in to the MB. Very few people I know (mostly gamers and audiophiles) buy a dedicated sound card.

Get Pocket PC or Zaurus to sync to Mac!

The NV70 is nice and if I had to get a Palm, that's what I would get as well. However, it will not be upgradeable to the next version of PalmOS which runs on the StrongARM chip.

Not an iPaq. iPaq has alwyas been plagued by prodution problems (the most infamous being dust under screen). I would get a Toshiba e750. Unlike iPaq, it has dual slots (CF and SD) and also built-in wi-fi. It has its problems too but I'd pick the…

Thanks Flash: I would imagine it is worth it since for $99 you get Jaguar + iPod at up to $100 discount + ADC student benefits. I asked because my student ID and school e-mail still works but I am no longer a student.

Hey FG: Do you know if student ADC membership allows one to buy the iPod? The evidence (i.e. sending in a fax of your classes) is only required for purchasing a system or for any purchases? THX!

Hey, just be glad I switched (or am beginning too). You don't know how much flack I am catching from the PC users. P.S. PocketPC kicks butt of any Palm devices.

Uh, it was plu-n-play for me. I assume you have dynamic IP? Plug WAN port of router to cable modem, fire up your PC, configure to the PC to use DHCP (CTRL panel, network, TCP/IP). And you should be set if everything is on default. Of course,…

Has he updated his drivers? If so, can he roll them back? what is his OS version and RM player version? Does he have any other problems playing any other media files?

Yeah, comparing machine to machine Mac is always slower IMHO. I miss my Sony VAIO laptop as well but do like very much my overpriced iBook - the first Mac I used since 1996 and the first Mac I purchased.
