you need to get "postfix enabler" from versiontracker. it used to be free but since Tiger came out you have to pay $10 for it. worth the money IMHO.

in prefs select the Account and then highlight the account you want, then select the "mailbox behavior" button and alter the "trash" setting to suit yourself. Maybe that will work for you.....
