  • Hm, I did a clean install/back up my library folder, so I just imported whatever I had previously into mail. Though I had to specifically import it - if I copied the Mail folder from the old library into the new library, it didn't load it. Maybe you…
  • Mplayer!!! Works fine in Tiger! I use it more, as it is generally more stable than VLC for me. Anyways, the one Tiger incompatibility that's killing me is that cocoa gestures is broken...
  • FWIW, I found out about Finder's FTP client. It's still read-only. And it does the stupid ask twice thing when opening files. In fact I don't think they touched the FTP code at all.

  • I really want to know if they fixed finder FTP (i.e. upload support, opening files from the ftp site, sftp), I haven't heard anything from this on Tiger yet...

  • I've been bugging Apple about having nested playlists for a while, I don't they'll be listening until a lot of people submit this feedback to them. Anyways, I somewhat got around this limitation by having a little tag before playlists, i.e. "Soundtr…

  • Virtual desktops, Expose, bah! Get yourself a three monitor setup and live in bliss Though even when I only have one monitor to use, I tend to make use of the 'hide' command religiously (and have it bound to one of my mouse buttons), and hardly …
  • You really should try different placements and see what works best. It could be that where the subwoofer is and where you sit, you get very weak, or way too much bass response (not up to my wave physics to explain it). I've had my roommates complain…

  • Actually Windows has four levels of "sleep": Standby 1: High powered sleep, equivalent to a Mac's sleep, can sleep/wake up really quickly (a touch slower than a mac but still is pretty instant) - keeps RAM, cache powered, kills power to display and…
  • I did this same setup with an xbox and ibook. It seems that the xbox and ibook don't like to dhcp each other properly, so I had to manually configure the xbox and ibook ip addresses as well as specifying the dns server on the xbox.
