Nicely put, and I agree. In Apple's defense though, I have to say that most of their software is unbelievable well thought out, if a little lacking in speed.

Check Mac OS X hints for a work around.

Don't forget Apple's recently acquired 'Logic'! A hands down winner in competition with Cakewalk!

So what you're saying is I should think in PostScript when I want to print something I just designed!

Ah - but you're wrong there - very wrong. With Freeway version 1 and 2 you may have had a point, but not anymore. Freeway can match Dreamweaver feature for feature, and it still allows you to think as a designer, not a coder. As for GoLive - don'…

It's a totally amazing program. I use it full time (instead of PS) to do colour correction and stuff. Much easier and more powerful than PS I think. It does some unbelievably complex stuff relatively easy. Took me about a day or two to get used to t…

Actually, there's a new kid on the block and it's called PhotoRetouch. It does colourcorrection/modification and retouchework better than Photoshop, and easier too. Mind you, it's not cheap, but in this case you really get what you pay for. here …

For me, only one thing is missing and that's password management like it works in Mozilla. Once that's done, I'll switch. I'm perfectly happy with what it can do now.

The program the get is 'Battery' by Native Instruments. It's the best drumsampler available. Allows you to do stuff you never thought possible with 'just' drums!! Not OS X yet, unfortunately, but worth switching to OS 9 for!!!!!

I know what it's like when your favourite product is no longer developped. I was a user of Opcode Studio Vision before Gibson killed it. It's really quite a drag to totally relearn all your audio skills, especially when you're doing something creati…

If cost is an issue have a look at RagTime. It's like have Quark and MS Office in one program. It's really very powerful, and currently they have a single user adition available for free. Give it a go, I'm sure you'll like it!!

The really nice thing about MachO is the GUI. Gone is the slugginess of Mozilla - it feels very responsive.

I'm already using Chimera, but this latest version of MachO just feels faster and has more features!

BookIt is the best - it has no competition. It even syncs to its own dockling, so you can access your favourites urls from the dock, should you wish to do so!
