My guess is that it is loose, as the board is of course solid-state. These things generally either work, or don't. They don't usually fail over time.

There's a board in your powerbook under your trackpad/palmrest called the PMU board. It does stuff like battery charging, etc. It sounds like it is either loose or defunct. If you are feeling gutsy, grab a repair manual for your particular PBG3 a…

iTools/iDisk password are the same (?)

What jutus said. .ISO is just a type if disk image.

Worst comes to worst, check out OSX firewall rules, and pipe outgoing data on port 80 to 8080 and incoming data on 8080 to 80.

I doubt it has to do with them ADSL modem, as that would be far too easy to circumvent. Also, their reasons for blocking incoming ports is more likely to do with the fact they are cheap bastards than a concern over their clients getting hacked. Fewe…

ZO, not sure if this is an option, but your ISP sounds like they kinda suck. You might try their immediate competition, ie DSL if on cable, cable if on DSL.

I shouldn't require software, it is purely a hardware issue. Odd that it works with a powerbook, but not an iMac. Try putting the iMac to sleep, connecting the proxima, and waking it. Then try opening the monitor control panel. The only thi…

Apple has a battery zapping software that resets the battery. However, if you frequently use your battery it is entirely poosible that it's toast, like any rechargeable that's been charged too many times. If apple's battery reset software doesn't…

Do you know how to embed a QT movie in a webpage? If so, embed the movie in the page of the pop up window(?)

Does it mount on the desktop? Can you double-click it and view its contents? Can you drag and drop your collection? I don't have an iPod, so I'm stabbing in the dark.

Contact Sonnet?

I fail to understand the reasoning behind your smartass remark. The next time you compile an app with gcc, surf the web with mozilla/chimera, or hell, use OSX at all (BSD), consider all the benefits that you get, for free, with no restrictions/bulls…

davfs isn't java, but it appears to be i386 only, not ppc-compilable.

FA: lemme know if it compiles for you... I couldn't get davfs to compile.

After all that, you may try Toast. I've had nothing but great luck burning Mac/ISO9660 hybrid CD's... It may be a software problem. It could also be a daft PC problem, try different machines.

You're a PC convert? can I have your iMac then? Sounds like maybe the power cord has come loose from either the wall or where it plugs into the mac. If it is neither of these, get apple to fix/replace it.
-
What sort of router is it plugged into? try swapping the two imac cables. Make sure TCP/IP is set to dhcp, via ethernet. Double check the two mac's preferences side by side, make sure they are exact (except for their local IP address).

Apple service repair manuals are floating around on the web.. grab one and if it is a common problem it will detail how to fix it. It may be a small inexpensive part or something. Anyway, do NOT buy parts fromk Apple, they'll rob you blind. Check fo…
