i found a hint at macosxhints.com which might help. it's an automator action (using applescript) to start a postfix server via terminal.app. apparently you can authenticate sudo scripts if you don't mind having your admin password in cleartext in an…

ah i see did you try deleting icals preferences ? usually located in /Users//Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist maybe the plist got corrupted somehow. aside from that i don't know what could be the cause.

there's an option in icals preferences called 'show time in month view'. do you have that turned off ?

this seems weird. maybe the installer did more than just mess up the privileges. just to avoid that it's some kind of finder bug; can you see your files through terminal.app ? (open it, then 'cd Desktop/', then 'ls -la' ('l' gives you a list view an…

according to aopens mini pc website it uses intels 915gm chipset which has intels gma 900. so the mac mini seems like the better choice by far.

no problem, open up Terminal.app. It should be located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. when you open it, the default path is your home folder, so the commands in my post above should work. in case you're not sure if you somehow…

a 'ls -l' in your home folder should show: drwx------ 6 Username Username 204 Feb 28 19:07 Desktop if that command doesn't not show your username as owner/group, you'll have to change that too. 'sudo chown username Desktop/' sets the…

it's not hidden for me. unzipping in terminal.app using 'unzip Heise.jpg.zip' reveals both the malicious jpg and the directory.

there's some more information over at daringfireball which you guys might find interesting. the whole issue isn't about safari or mail, it's the way the os decides which application to choose to open certain files.

or just have the extension always match the metadata info. additionally i'd like to have the option to have terminal.app show me the contents of a script before executing it and give me the option not run it . even if i doubleclick it in the find…

yup, file size seems to be the problem. i found a short description here. so i guess the volume you're trying to copy the file to does not support files bigger than 4gb. you could either split the file (stuffit deluxe does that but there might be a…

i was out to buy a case for my nano today at a local store. all they had to offer was plain white leather cases by belkin which look weird on a black nano. then i asked for a different color and they told me that they're out of stock but i could use…

i just tried this using a small divx movie and front row plays this without a problem. do your movies play in quicktime ? if not, did you install the universal binary version of the divx codec ? it just got released recently.

yup, it really looks ugly. pretty much like the .mac slideshows. http://homepage.mac.com/r3d/.Public/sample.jpg exporting to a folder in iphoto created plain html links as 'buttons' (next, previous, up).

Quote: Safari's in Debug mode, that may have something to do with it. there's a debug 'mode' ? afaik it's just a menu item. visible or hidden, this shouldn't be responsible for any crashes.
