Agreed. I do use Excel and Word, but only with the most basic of features. Everything that is in AppleWorks now is fine for me. Just modernize it (sheets and other UI updates) and I'd be pretty happy with it. I'd love to be able to never …

Has anyone figured out a way to remap Expose to other keys besides F1-F12? Edit a plist somewhere or somethin'? (edit) Ah... found the answer at the website that has taught me more about OS X than any other: http://www.macosxhints.com/ar…

My profile used to say "Adelaide, SA", but I'm back in upstate New York now so I changed it.

Well that was just plain mean.

Maybe it's just the Apple Store webmaster playing a cruel joke . I hope it's a new iMac... have cash in hand if the specs are right.

how about just getting an ATI Remote Wonder? I got mine off ebay for less than $30. Good drivers for OS X (actually better than the Windows drivers), and something like 150ft range.

Well, there are the niche markets like medicine. I use my Palm all the time to look up treatment protocols, drug dosages, etc. It would be virtually impossible to carry all the actual medical books and references that I can cram into a PDA. …

If this whole miniPod rumor is true, dontcha think it would have been better for Apple to get them out in time for the Christmas buying season?

I did an Ironman Triathlon back in 1999, which has a marathon as the run portion of the event. If you really want to run a marathon while minimizing stress on the musculoskeletal system, try cross training. Frank Shorter once said that you only n…

I run Panther on a G3/400 Pismo with 384MB of RAM, and find that it works quite well. The only thing I really miss having is Quartz Extreme, but the G4 you're bidding on should have a QE capable video card.

I still have my Newton 2100. Love it. ... and yes, I do worry that Apple will never make an updated Newton. Honestly, all other PDA's are junk in terms of usability. The Newton OS is to Palm OS as the Max OS X is to Windows 3.1. It really is …

[quote]Originally posted by os10geek: Iit would be nice to have "970" applied to the 970 case like the G3 was applied to the Blue&White G3. It would look nice. I would rather see "G5" on the case, just for the tradition. As for the case not …

Thanks for the clear answers. A clarification, if you please: 1.8GHz 970 = 2GHz Pentium 4? Doesn't a current 1.25GHz G4 = 2GHz Pentium 4? Therefore, 1.25GHz G4 = 1.8GHz 970? I sure hope not! I want it to be much faster. [ 01-20-200…

Hey, do they PowerMacs still have those internal firewire ports? You could drill a hole in the front of the case and run an extension lead from it to the hole and then work out some way to make a face plate. Probably look like hell, though.....
