I helped my buddy migrate from AOL to Optimum Online and we spent an entire Sunday morning forwarding emails one at a time. Sucks, but if you get a friend to help and you use copy and paste for the emial address it goes much faster. I got on my lapt…

I tried YellowDog Linux on my iBook and I think it sucks. I was going to use it as my secondary OS with Mac OS X as my primary, no "Classic". I couldn't get AirPort to work, sound was a constant problem, and the email client was crap. I ended up rei…

qoute: Sorry to be really negative but "Netscape *7".... is sh*t. You got that right! I keep trying new versions, hoping against hope, that one will be a successor to IE. Not yet.

In order to have Sherlock available for IE, you must have an original - not an alias - in your Apple Menu. Quit IE, put the original Sherlock app in the Apple Menu, and then restart IE. It should work. I had this same problem and it took me a week t…

I have had this same problem with my Yosemite and the culprit is indeed the Zip drive. Seems like the system bus doesn't fully wake from sleep if there is an internal Zip on it. To wake it I insert a Zip disk and eject it as soon as it mounts. Viola…

Yup. With RAM being so cheap now I have 1 GB in my Yosemite. That way I can give IE 100 MB, and 250 MB to Photoshop. Rediculous? Perhaps. But I sleep better.

Usually this occurs when an app tries to use memory it doesn't have or is not entitled to. Under OS 9x the solution was to assign more memory to the app. OS X is supposed to take care of this all by itself. For apps in OS 9x, the proceedure is: …

MacFixIt has had some info on the troubles with AirPort 2.0. Apple has replaced some cards for folks who's upgrade hosed their AirPort cards.

Ravel's "Bolero." One song, 45 minutes. Then it repeats.

Thank heavens the guy with the shoe-bomb was such a moron! Imagine trying to detonate plastic explosive with a match. Sometimes these rag-heads are good for a laugh after all. As for a new years attack, I'm not too worried. I would expect an at…

Here in the U.S. we have protection from a lone ICBM hitting our soil. Its an anti-ballistic missile called Pegasus and its fired from an F-15 Eagle streaking upward towards the stratosphere. Pegasus becomes ineffective only when the inbound missil…

My vote is for the "Flux Capacitor". Or a beanie with propeller on top. Something nagging at me says "hoax".

Agreed. But Jar Jar tested huge among young kids. My 6-year old thought he was a hoot and ran around the house talking like him, much to my dismay.

Apple has apparently been listening. They have a QuickTime 5 Reinstaller for OS X

Yes it does, and I already have. I wish Apple would give me something more, but it doesn't look like it will happen. And if you smell poop, that's our ultra-modern 133 MHz front side bus just tearin' it up. [ 05-04-2002: Message edited by: ramb…

Shut the fsck up about acronyms already! MAYA vs Maya? fsckin' nitwits. The point is that an Athlon box pisses on a Mac in everything. Sorry to say, but it's true. I have an Athlon XP 1700 runninn Win2000Pro, and it embarrasses my DP800 PowerMac up…

If you're talking about reading/subscribing to news groups, I use Entourage v.X. Outlook Express did all the same stuff in OS 9.
