I doubt Apple can build a machince and sell it at that price, while maintaining their high quality standards. Apple would prefer to remain the BMW of the computer world, and not become a KIA.

Ah, and I was so close to 1000 posts

I think the problem is most people aren't computer nerds, and take the stance "If it aint broken, don't fix it" when in comes to technology. Also, when 60% of Mac users aren't running OS X, it's most likely a large percentage of those people aren…

Stop denying it. You people who want 15-inch screens with 1600X1024 pixels are idiots. If you really need that much screen real-estate, it's time to think about buying an external monitor.

I can get five hours with my 14" iBook in Panther

Too bad Apple can't claim to have the worlds first 64-bit notebook when the G5 PowerBook is finally announced. I saw a review of an Athlon64 notebook on AnandTech. Granted, the form factor sucks, but I really hope we see a G5 PowerBook before MWSF05…

That is one hell of a nice setup Shetline. A dual 2GHz G5 and a 12" PowerBook, not to mention the Cinema Display and speakers. Makes me jealous. All I have is an 18 month old iBook and some Sound Sticks. Maybe I'll post a picture, when I stop being …

If the 74x7 series scales a few hundred more megahertz, and Apple uses higher capacity batteries, fixes the display issues, and adds the fiber-optic keyboard across the line, it would make a worthy upgrade. I don't think the G4 can be stretched f…

Just a heads up, my dad purchased a new 1.25GHz PowerBook from the Apple store. It came with Jaguar preinstalled, and there was a Panther upgrade disk inside the box. So if you buy a AlBook now, you will get Panther for free.

This is good news, actually. Now the news organizations can stop hyping Jaguar's local security flaws.

Apparently if you're running Panther, the OS itself defrags your hard drive automatically in the background.

Too bad. The G4 is dead. Apple's going to have trouble getting faster chips for the next PowerBook refresh, and dual processors will not work with the current enclosures. Plus, the heat issue would be a problem like it is with the G5.

CNet has such an anti-apple bias it isn't funny. The only way Panther could have scored higher than a six out of ten is if it was made by Microsoft.

Never heard of it. What does it do?
