  • Every time I try to load this site (ipodrocks.com), I get a screen that tells me I need to update Quicktime. No way I need to update QT if I'm running Panther with all updates. The page redirects to an Apple QT update page where the latest update …
  • I want that rumored 30 inch Apple Studio Display.

  • Fair enough about moving the post. I agree about the plethora of variables. I see interesting possibilities in a system where people could have more of a choice about what they watch & when they watch it. Clearly, the dough has to come from s…
  • Glad to know these aren't real tests of the G5's performance. Also, could be the systems at CompUSA are already screwed up from people banging on them.
  • Saw my first G5 at the Emeryville Apple Store on Friday. It was a 1.6. They wouldn't open the case. There was a huge floor-to-ceiling graphic of the inside of the case - same photo we've all seen. The sales guy (who had a lot of metal in him in …

  • Yes, when I downloaded the image and enlarged it, I could see that the holes in the "Cheese Grater" completely failed to resolve, so I wondered if it was just a case of the stripes blending into a gray area. This is definitely a strong possibility,…

  • It isn't a hardware problem. I booted into OS 9.2.2 and printed like wildfire while spooling a second print. This is OS X printing bugginess. Panther had better pull it together a lot more for printing.
  • I wiped my hard drive before installing Jaguar. Reinstalling my system would be a pain, but I could wipe & reinstall Jaguar on the cloned drive, I imagine, just to test if it makes a difference. The problem absolutely for sure did not exist be…
  • Paul, Thanks for your suggestions. I don't understand "Top" yet, but I will investigate. The wierd ??? process didn't stay onscreen long enough to investigate, maybe 20 seconds. I just booted into a clone of my old 10.2.5 system on another dri…

  • How would you attach to the under-surface I wonder? Yes, cabling would be a pain in the arse, as would access to the optical drives... Yes, There is definitely a difference in use between an Xserve and a "Desktop." Dual optical drives, and/or th…
  • I would vote for an Xserve-type of design. Why use the tower form factor at all? Towers take up room on the desktop, or gather too much dust on the floor. Why not mount a drawer-style computer right under the desktop to conserve desk or counter s…
  • I am definitely hot for the 970, but I will wait for Rev B. It seems like there are often little boo-boos in Rev A machines. But, perhaps since Apple has had such a long wait for the processor, the hardware is completely ready. I will still wait, …
  • Apple is blaming our 3rd party hardware instead of taking responsibility. These devices all worked fine before the update. This is from MacInTouch: [11:25 ET]_ George Lawrence Storm forwarded explanations for the Mac OS X 10.2.5 kernel panic, p…
