Have you tried connecting to the Admin page on the router at 198.162.1.1 if I recall correctly.

This is also the price at the online Apple Education store.

I've bought several things from OWC without any problems. I've got a FireWire case from them and it works great. They even provided a firmware upgrade when an issue with 10.1 first came out. I'd buy from them again. You might want to check out …

The old models are selling better than the new because they are priced to move. My father ALMOST bought a demo dual 1-ghz for $1999 from the Apple store in Tampa, but wanted a non-demo and didn't want to pay $2199 for it. I thought he was dumb. We…

You won't see Apple list in the specifications of any product that it's CPU can be upgraded. Several years ago during the transition to PowerPC chips, Apple listed some Performa units as supporting CPU upgrades. The market was not there so Apple did…

Looking at the diagram on the Macentral.com site, is Xserver using HyperTransport to connect the various sub-systems together? The chip/chips labeled system controller is in a hub/switch configuration (center) Go here for picture:

That sucks. I'd check with Apple to see what they can do. The 90 day warranty was why I bought mine from CompUSA. For $30+ you get a 2 year warranty.

I was really hoping for a price drop on the 5 GB model to $299 or $349. I guess I don't have to wait any longer and can take the plunge. I'm going to look at the 10 GB, but I will probably get the 5 GB version.

Rev B is probably corrects the power cord issue and firmware issue that were reported a few weeks ago. Or just a way to separate from Rev A. [ 03-21-2002: Message edited by: CodeWarrior ]

What 5250 emulator are you using? If it is MacRumba or Celview, Celview V3 for OS X has been released. They have a $79 upgrade from previous versions. They also have a 30 day demo.

If the max multiplier on the current G4 is 10x then to get past 1.33 GHZ they are going to have to go to a faster front side bus.

Remember Apple's cost is more than the cost of components. There is manufacturing costs, labor cost, and R&D costs. In Apple's overall margins of x%, don't forget they are putting software sales in this also. R&D is the major cost for sof…

I'd be really surprised if Linux doesn't support Altivec on the 970 since an IBM Linux engineer is doing some of the code. Remeber this Red Hat Link

New xServes aren't using them (edit: Apples announcement still list G4 with 256K L2 cache so not 7457 - Sorry I jumped the gun). Also they are "new devices are manufactured using Motorola's 0.13-micron HiPerMOS silicon-on-insulator copper interconn…

The 7447/7457 G4s are announced by Moto.

No 15" LCD iMacs again. No 15" LCD displays again. The market wants 17" or larger.

Interesting discussion but I don't think Apple can update its line if they can't get faster processors with a FSB that supports DDR. They trickle technology down to the iMac lines and iBooks from the PowerMac and TiBook. When Apple has a faster su…

No superdrive only CDRW or Combo Drive for $899 eMac. It's a pipe drive.

The $399 price is after a $100 rebate. Specs are: The $399 Gateway PC comes with a 1.8GHz Intel Celeron processor, a 40GB hard drive, 128MB of memory, a CD burner, and a year's worth of America Online Internet service. And Gateway hasn't been ma…
