Yeah, you can flash the PC versions of the Radeon 7000 at least, as long as it's the version with the same type of RAM as the Mac card (DDR, I think). However, the reason the PC card is so much less expensive is that you get so much less....the M…

Why is that guy wearing a fake mustache on his press photo?

Good luck, I hope it's legit. I hope it's not been purloined from a legit Mac user too....

Holy crappers, that's expensive! But it does look sturdy...

No way....the Powermac G5 is a watershed. Now I buy computers VERY infrequently, but I try and make sure I get them on the cusp on a new technology. I bought the Blue-White G3, as it was very clear it was the beginning of something different for A…

Here's my iChat AV cam: http://canondv.com/gl2/f_ieee1394.html Sure, it's a little out of your price range, but it works GREAT! (the only problem I have is that it doesn't like to stay on if I don't have a tape in it and recording...

Isn't shrinking Apple's chipset design (and moving the DDR controller on-chip) as big of a barrier to the iMac getting a G5 than any theoretical lower-clocked G5s? Designing a new, smaller motherboard for the iMac and Powerbook is gonna take both…

Camino rocks, it works almost error free for me. Draws more pages than safari, and crashes less (at least on my machine). Speed difference almost impossible to tell, but I think Safari barely edges it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'm no stranger to the command line, but I was specifically thinking of a program that less technically inclined Mac users could use. Stupider...like a fox you've come through! As for speeding up compressio…

I think this is a late arrival on the Powermacs, and it should have been out on the whole line (besides maybe the iMacs) also. Optical or coax digital out is not especially expensive to implement, it should have been introduced 3+ years ago. Nic…

That's some creative thinking! I don't really like these "let's ditch Microsoft and get our own version of Office" threads, but this is the best one I've heard so far. That being said, Apple should not antagonize Microsoft. But if Microsoft d…

wow, that's cool. I wonder if anyone has a shared iTunes list around my area...I just got a wireless access point in my apartment, maybe i should put some shared music on my Mac that folds proteins all day...

I have to go with Mr. Stagflation here. I know 5 "switchers" who own a PC desktop and a "white" iBook laptop. The iBook the best switcher machine-cheap, light, and portable. I can't see Apple doing away with this machine, as it's undoubtedly thei…

I've seen this happen time and time again. It has never worked out well for anyone, except the IT people. When my college moved from 100% Mac to "3 Macs rotting in a corner," their IT budget tripled. Yet no one called them on this fraud because "…
