The other alternative is if you have more than half the space on your iPod free, enable firewire disk mode on the iPod, drag you music folder on to the drive, then copy it on to the new Mac. See this page for more info. I used this method to get the…

If it is a brand new PowerBook G4, then when you first set it up, there is an option to transfer things like your user account (and iTunes library) using a firewire cable. Very simple to do, it's what I did when I got my PowerBook to replace my iBoo…

No Marmite though \ .

'Ocelot' would be cool . However, I think Apple would face the problme of having loads of teenage fans of the Metal Gear Solid series saying, "Dude! You totally ripped off your new OS name from my favourite computer game villain!". For those who …

I noticed that too. I've been looking at the V3/RAZR for my next phone, and lack of iSync via Bluetooth put me off. So, this leads me to two questions: 1) Will Bluetooth iSync work with other Motorola phones (e.g. V545/V551 etc.)? 2) When usin…

There's been a preview of the Windows version available for a while now: http://developer.apple.com/macosx/rendezvous/ Like danielctull, it was the only way I could get my wife's Dell laptop to print to our Canon i850 on the Airport Express. W…

Oh dear, I hadn't realised how much it was . I guess when we went it must have been on some kind of promotion.

Scott, There's a Hilday Inn in Coram Street, right near to Russle Square tube station. It's very convenient for Euston / Kings Cross, and some of the museums. I doubt it will be very cheap though, probably towards the £100 / night, but it could b…

BTW, if anyone knows where I can get a 1024x768 version, I'd love to know, as I only have a 800x600 version stretched to fill the screen.

First, what speed processor do you have? Mine is 1.5 GHz, so if yours is faster, that might explain some of the difference. Also, did you check for rogue processes in Activity Monitor?

Well, that's sorted it . IT's been running for around 20-30 minutes now, and previously it would have been very hot with a screaming fan . Temps are now: Hard Disk Drive Bottomside: 42.0? Processor Topside: 42.5? Graphics Processor Die: 47.5?…

Mac OS X Tiger 'not what it seems' claims Macworld UK .

Aha! I think I may have found the culprit... A quick check in Activity Monitor revealed that a task called 'prinjobmgr' was hogging the CPU (using around 80-90% ). I've killed it off, and check how things are later. Dave.

OK, daft question... how do I get the temp readouts? I'm guessing there's an app I can download for this, or is there something already in OS X? ibook911, I didn't used to mind the fans, as they weren't that loud, but the past couple of days t…
