I think this is a good sign for the G5 to come out this year. Since they didn't go through the hassle of creating a new chipset and mobo to support DDR, since Apollo still only supports the 133MHz bus, and many other advancements that are needed in …

I don't believe this BS. Just to add to the optical drive rants, if the top two have Suprdrives and the bottom one doesn't, wouldn't it at least have a combo drive (CD-RW/DVD)?

If I had a 20Gb iPod, I would store all my music on it and free up the space on my computers hard drive.

I've got an OrangePC card if anybody wants one! The chip on the card does the pc work and just piggy backs on the macs subsystems.

If Apple can't get a high speed G4 or G5 out the door soon, I would think they would counter will all PMac's going back to dual processor. I would like to see them all be dual processor even if they are high speed though.

There really would be no difference in cost of a round or square mother board (I used to work at a board fab house). No change required in the fab process whatsoever. The costs would come from the design side, trying to fit everthing on that little …

The CRT iMacs will continue to carry the G3 and the iBook will too. My guess is for all of 2002 we will see the G3 in these products. Unless the G3 adds an Altivec unit it will disappear in 2003 because of the necessity of Altivec in some apps (iDVD…

I've got an iPod riding on this thread.

This is just to distract us that the G5 is coming.

Well, if I'm to believe the article on MacCentral than I will be losing my G5 bet. However I think this is just a way to get people to buy G4's and stop waiting for the G5. I've been holding off for over a year now, and will continue to do so (I …

Gas... There will be a G5 this year, if not I will buy Suckfuldotcom an iPod....Oh wait, we already agreed to that. I just think there has to be a new chip on the horizon. Especially with the release of Apollo and the fact it really doesn'…

G5 this year, guaranteed.

Well Suckfuldotcom, It looks like you avoided the bullet on the first PowerMac update of the year. Looks like the waiting game continues.

I'm pretty sure that the MPC8540 is not available yet. I'm going to put in a few calls and see what I can find out, might not get a response until next week if it's not available though.
