Apple sells its machines by this law: If you are a professional, you know that G4s are faster than P4s. If your an iMac computing newby, you don't know what the hell a megahertz is. But a middle person knows what clock speed is, but doesn't know the…

Well, of course dual processors will provide marketing appeal...but I hope that Dell doesn't start to provide DP setups.

What is hyper transport technology? And why would it be good on the Mac? (Yes, I am researching it right...[B] now [B/] )

It would be nice to have an "xServe-esque" case design, with hotwsap drives on the front. If the xServe's form factor is like this: ________________________________ |_______________________________| then the Powermac casing should be like the c…

It would be intelligent for apple to get the 970 in before the business year gets rolling, so companies can their equipment set up before November.
-
Well, yeah, it is going to be a long time before another update. I mean, 6 months is half a year! I'll be old by then! I doesn't seem that Moto will be making a faster G4 chip by then. I highly doubt that Apple will make a speed bump that is any …

Your humor, not the G4, makes me hurl, Lemon Bon Bon.
-
I guess that you are right about that. The xServe line needs stability more than anything.
-
The 970 will spread through Apple's products in a similar, but slightly different way than the G4. What the G4 did: First it was in the top of the line desktop. Then in the Pro Portable. Then in the Consumer Desktop, and we are still waiting for it …
-
Yeah, Lemon Bon Bon,but the 970 isn't exactly what I think should go into a consumer machine.
-
It is very doubtful that the next Pro machine will be speed-bumped only 100 mhz, but with Moto having no plans to produce G4's that are faster than the current ones in the Powermac, it looks like we will have to weather this hardware release drought…

I think that it would be nice to have te same approx. sixe as current PowerMacs, but have them take design cues from the xServe. Like all those feakin' mad-cool status indicator lights, ya know

This means nothing, let alone something bad, to Apple. This just means that computer companies who uses PowerPC processors in their products might have to agree on some kind of nonbinding, beaurocratic, stupid agreement. Nothing more.

The iMac was an awesome deal before the updadte, let alone after. Anyway, it has its unique industrial design pulling in switchers from all over country, because that design might be 2x more expensive than the Dell, but, well, Dell does'nt make anyt…

Introducing a Tivo isn't an Apple kinda thing to do, unless it was seamlessly integrated with the Mac platform. Even then, I think that Apple would want to avoid the middle-man, and improve online streaming video, like they did with quicktime to imp…

You're right, Programmer... Both would be better.

Well, the 9700 isn't available for Mac yet. It has, rather, been "available soon" for about a month or two.
-
I hope Apple goes with the Nvidia GPU. ATI is more partial to Windows than Nvidia. I mean, the 9700 has had the "coming soon" status for over a month, but Nvidia has all the 4X AGP chips it makes for Windows compatible with the Mac also. Not to ment…

About how fast is a Xeon vs. a Pentium 4? Is it like the amount that a G4 is faster than a G3?
-
Having the Geforce FX in a Mac would be kickass. The trouble would be convincing Nvidia to make a Mac edition. 8X AGP will be a definite on the next Powermac. I sure do hope so.
