  • Dont quite get the NEED for a G5 eMac?, I think the current G4 is plenty fast. It just needs to be in the 1.5G mark, to be competitive with the PC price/performance in its class. Motorola are releasing faster 7448's soon so there's room for th…
  • Carson O'Genic had already stated my thinking - too bad if Apple wanted to double its mac business?. The ipod has been a phenomenal success and on the back of that apple should capitalise on the ability to SHIP great computers. Hope IBM can …
  • What I find amazing is that IBM chip manufacturing cannot keep up with demand for 2% of the computer market?. Intel has to supply what 90%?.
  • Although this thread smells like FH, there are two schools of thought. Since the PB's are overdue for their speedbump, some are suggesting something good at MWSF (G5)!. The alternative is that the reason they werent updated is because there are …
  • Whilst over at MOSR claim a dual core 970 PB early 05 - what are they smoking? Heavy shit, man!

  • Quote: Originally posted by Bigc New PB will have to be G5 if they announce in January; which means shipping in March; which gives them about 6-months more to get a G5 in a mobile... That ought to be enough time ya'd think.... Id say that …
  • That's what ive been thinking - there is either a G4 update now or a G5 at MWSF!. That could be an awesome keynote!
  • Logically, the PB's will need to be updated to allow the ibooks to be updated which are also due now. So if apple updated the ibooks now, then we could very well see G5 PB's at MWSF. Realistically, though the PB's and ibooks will probably rece…

  • I think there is market pressure on the 12" to be increased to a 13.3" - with a 1.2G G4, but it may not get the screen this time round. If it stays 12" with better specs and a slight price drop that should be good enough.
  • Quote: Originally posted by quagmire The only G4 bump that might be shown in an apple event is a dual core G4. But, that won't be around intill WWDC '05. We have to admit it now that the G4 is dying. It is a shitty CPU. I would rather have an IB…
  • Quote: Originally posted by Peter North why would they announce g4 speedbumps at mac world? especially since the new freescales wont be available for a few months afterwards? Agreed!, Apple historically does not do this - new models of signif…
  • Quote: Originally posted by THT It'll be a 1.5 GHz G5 with 17" CRT, some 32 MB vid card, ATA disk drive, 256 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM. More likely than 1.8G G4's. But, dont rule out 1.42G G4's as a more typical apple update.
  • Quote: Originally posted by PB Is not the iMac G5 good for you? Do you really need a machine that can run on battery and be taken on the road? I carry my PB between work and home everyday - your suggestion is tempting cuz those G5 imacs are d…

  • Quote: Originally posted by wizard69 I'm truely hopefull as the 970 series is starting to become a big joke. That's a bit harsh - the PMacs price/performance is better than anything in Wintel (Opteron/Xeon) workstation class, and will only ge…
  • Quote: Originally posted by Mr. MacPhisto The only thing I know about FreeScale is that IBM is certain they will be very strong in the next year. They still need to deliver, but I still believe we will see a 2GHZ PowerBook by MWSF, likely sooner…
