The other thing you can do - buy DiskWarrior from Alsoft's website. Then burn it to an OS 9 bootable CD. Then fix your issue. That's what I did. But obviously you need access to a working CD burning Mac.

I've noticed that Safari doesn't do well with links/buttons that are invoked via JavaScript. For example, Expedia.com - I can't get the "search" button to work because hitting search calls a Javascript and something breaks there.
