Going from another thread, I think it may be that the current Pentium Ms (not the Yonah & Merom ones that Apple will use) don't do a great job with SSE code, which iTunes uses to help speed encoding when it's present. I've seen Pentium 4 system…

I think Apple will start packing the Mighty Mouse with higher-end desktops over time, working from the PowerMac downwards. Those are the buyers most likely to demand a multi-button mouse in the box. Regarding the iPod mini, I wonder why there's …

Here's my tentative guesses for the expo (keeping in mind that it's still over a month away): If they emphasize portables, we'll see a PowerBook update. The 7448 is supposed to offer up to a 25% clock speed boost at the same power/thermal capabi…

I hope I'm not the only one who noticed that AI forgot to put the "i" in iTunes 4.9 for the title.

It can depend on the CPUs they end up using. If they use CPUs based on the Pentium M core (including the dual-core variants), then they won't exactly be noisy to start with.

If there's a major computer update at WWDC but we don't see a leak... Apple will have pulled off a near-impossible feat! I actually hope it's the case, if just because it's been too long since I was completely surprised by an Apple announcement.

Why are people suggesting 160 GB hard drives? The Mac mini uses laptop hard drives. That means that, at best, Apple would use 120 GB laptop drives when they're released later in the year... which they won't, because it would cost far too much. …

Quote: My other question is regarding purchasing a 14" iBook versus a 15" Powerbook. Those are the sizes I want, I am not to keen on the 12" model and the 17" is too big. I would ideally like to get the Powerbook but am not sure about the money.…

I have a strong (and somewhat supported through sources) hunch that the next iBooks will have the FX 5200 Go in them (and probably 64 MB ones). It's not a fast chip, but in Tiger it'll be faster just because it has full CoreImage support. The extr…
