I like the detatchable front face idea, not your spaced-out idea, but the simplicity of buying third party faceplates, just like mobile phones have. This would open up the iPod to more developers, buzz, etc.

A total switch to IBM produced processors, is my reasoning for the delay. IBM wants all of Apple's chip business enough to pull this off. Apple should buy 100% of it's core processors from them, I'm sure the volume discount would be nice.

Apple in the kitchen. I thought this weekend it would be great to have access to massive recipe databases in the kitchen. Maybe build it into a fridge. A rugged, waterproof tablet would do the trick too.
