Why do people insist on flattering themselves by labelling their own opinions as "truth"? Paragraph after paragraph of fantasy, guesswork, and doomcrying, unsupported by any kind of real experience or evidence. I hope you at least had fun writing…

Why does this issue still come up? Apple has historically put only a bare minimum of RAM into their machines (particularly the low-end ones) to allow their VARs to offer a free RAM "upgrade" as a buying incentive. Check any 3rd-party Mac seller -…

I have never been able to connect to a QuickTime stream on my Windows box here at work. This year was no exception.

If your camera gear is fairly new, chances are it will be supported soon. I seem to remember Jobs saying future updates to iPhoto would support more models.

A Tribble returns to Apple, properly speaking ... That's pretty interesting news. A lot of people disenchanted with the direction OS X is taking have been clamoring for a return of some of the old guard ... I wonder if this will mollify their obj…

[quote]Originally posted by Scott H.: I guess for those who shoot thier own porn they can have Apple print their own porn mag. You know people are using iMovie to edit "home" movies Now they can burn their own to DVD on the cheap. That would…

I think the new iMac is cool, and I think it will sell as fast as Apple can make them. I was never too much into the original, but this thing makes me think long and hard. Add iPhoto to the mix, and I think you have a pretty strong Expo. Many folks …

A journalist remembered watching the first "Think Different" commercial in Jobs's presence. She recalled Jobs wept at the sight of it. Say what you will about the man -- bad manager, tyrant, abusive, petty, devious -- he cares about a lot more th…

Michael, it couldn't have happened to a worthier Mac fan. Congrats and well done.

He seemed to have a little trouble finding something disparaging to say, but by gum, he managed it.

1) MST3K 2) Buffy 3) Doctor Who 4) Blackadder 5) Monty Python Current (though not all-time) fave: Family Guy. Way funnier and more consistent than that pale specter masquerading as the Simpsons nowadays.

I sent a friend of mine a copy of the free program from Paul McCartney's 1989 tour. She never got it. That's the only thing I ever lost in the mail, but it was kind of a doozy since I couldn't replace it.

I have exactly the same system as you. With 512 MB of RAM, OS X runs acceptably. Not terribly fast, but acceptably. It's not exactly as responsive as OS 9, but it's close enough that it doesn't bother me (this is 10.2 we're talking about of course).

Are any Apple engineers or project managers slated to attend? I'd love to hear some idea of the future of the Mac OS filesystem--everyone is expecting some change to come, but no one knows what it's going to be. Even some informed speculation might …
