  • Inside Consumer Reports: Controversies surrounding the MacBook Pro and HomePod

Yeah, well, after Anntenagate and following a painful experience with a BD weed trimmer that had a five star rating AND a serious engineering flaw, I dumped Consumer Reports forever and saved the subscription fee. The flaw? That was the fact the belt drive would melt the plastic drive pulley after about 2 hours total run time. Is the pulley replaceable? No, that’s part of the motor assembly. $80 and you install if the warranty is out or voided. I voided mine because I REALLY wanted to know what was going on and not comfortable with taking it in for warranty service every othe time I used it. FIVE STARS! Bye-bye CR…

  • French court denies Apple injunction against tax protests

How very French, that these ATTAC members are complaining about companies, and directly to Apple, for using these loopholes rather than presenting their protests directly to the EC for not plugging said loopholes. It gives ATTAC members something to do, I suppose, and a feeling they are "doing some good" despite barking up the wrong tree.

  • Source code for iOS 9's 'iBoot' component reportedly leaks online

    Information wants to be free.
Information doesn't "want" anything. Anthropomorphic nonsense doesn't mean anything. Certain people wish certain information were free, but I'm sure they'll go back to their "job" playing online games soon enough, hoping for that opportunity to cheat developers and get their favorite games free.

  • Criminal lawsuit over iPhone battery slowdowns filed in France, where planned obsolescence...

So, basically, if I'm too cheap to have the battery replaced when necessary, Apple is liable for that? The only thing they could have done differently is make it clear with whom the problem lies and suggest they get a battery service to continue an optimal experience with their older phone. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 is about 15 months old at most, so I'd personally like to see some sort of prorated replacement cost for batteries that have failed so quickly. My 6 Plus thinks it's doing fine, so maybe I'm just not too hard on it. Oh, and I always use Apple chargers or my Mac's USB port. I'm sure certain non-Apple chargers might be an issue, but that falls into the ID10T category as well. If it's cheap enough it's gotta be good, right?
