  • Adding water cooling to the Mac Studio does surprisingly little

So if I take a PC and water cool it, without going in and changing clock speeds, RAM timings, perhaps voltages, should I expect to see much of a difference?   Probably not.

At least as far as I understand it, not having done water cooling since the very late 90s and early 2000s, is that we water  cool in order to be able to boost clock speeds, adjust timings, and boost voltage (to support the first two).  Water cooling by itself doesn't boost performance.  It gives you expanded headroom to change and boost performance parameters.

Unless these guys figure out how to boost the clock speed and/or adjust the memory timings to be more aggressive, I'm not sure what they were expecting from this stunt.

  • T-Mobile users angered by iPhone 14 preorder failures

"High demand" is a cop out excuse.   Handling "high demand" is their job -- it is part of the business.  They're not  new to this and know what to expect.

  • Apple isn't done with 2022 -- here's what's still coming

I'm amazed that people are so blissfully unaware of what happened to the dollar-Euro exchange over the past year and a half.
Exactly.  I logged in to say it but you seemed to have beaten me

It is not greedy Apple.   It is that Apple bases their prices on their home currency and then "translates" that to other currencies (there are other things that can affect pricing besides exchange like VAT being part of the price vs sales tax added on top, import duties, and other regulatory costs and costs of doing business in a given area).

The euro had been about 1.15--1.2 US$, more or less, for quite a while but recently has fallen to parity. That makes everything that has base pricing in US$ 15+% more  expensive in euro.

  • Discover offering 5% cash back on Apple Pay, digital wallet purchases

A holiday quarter 5% cash back...up to 75 bucks. Uh, yay? Discover doesn't really seem committed to the reward, hardly worth my trouble to shift from my primary.
What trouble?  Having to scroll to a different card in Apple Pay?

Discover will be my Apple Pay card for the last quarter.  Beats the other choices.

So,  just two days ago there was an article suggesting that the 14 pro max is going to be the most wanted phone.   Trying to figure out how that is possible when you look at the data in this new article that shows the iPhone 13 selling around 3 to 1 compared to the 13 pro max.   ?
I think the recent article was talking about initial Fall demand.  I think I remember the pro max also being top demand at the start of iPhone 13 sales (initial demand).  Over time the standard one picks up as the first adopters all get their phones.
