  • Inside Tim Cook's Apple HomeKit-equipped smart home

Well that was a fun piece... although speculative in a few areas.

But seriously... the western world is already going to seed, health-wise, with the current 'ease-of-everything' at society's disposal... and now we're being offered apps to switch on our lights, make coffee, 'light' a faux fire, unlock doors, and God knows what else! Many people already hardly get off their asses... and now apps plus gadgets are being created daily to make our lives even easier by the minute!

We're doomed... unless we get out and exercise our bodies - by doing normal things - as they adapted, through evolutiuon, to be used.

  • Earnings preview: Wall Street expects record $77.4B revenue in Apple's best quarter in his...

Without feeling smug, I'll certainly feel a slight sense of pride in having helped Apple to a record earnings quarter... because although it's taken me a long time - and I mean a long time, being an old-age pensioner (apparently) - a month ago I finally bought an iPhone for my pocket, instead of relying on that old-fashioned 'thing in a cradle with alpha-numerical push buttons' on my desktop, which always had so many missed calls in it's limited memory.

So yeh... although I started with a Mac IIVX back in the early '90s and only upgraded every half-decade or so, I suppose every bit helps... and, the iPhone is now giving me itchy feelings to go for an Apple Watch sooner rather than later! Like millions of others I feel, and benefit from, Apple's 'halo' effect... so fuck the anal-ists manipulative predictions!

  • Apple, NV Energy forge deal to build 200MW Reno data center solar farm

Type "solar farm" into Wikiwand and it comes up with "Photovoltaic power station".

I've always thought the term "solar farm" acceptable because they are, because of their size, generally located in rural locations. However, whilst the one on top of the new Apple spaceship HQ may qualify by size, Cupertino is hardly rural, despite the arboreal planting planned for the site.

  • Apple.com switches web font from Myriad to San Francisco

The weight is too thick on the San Fran.
I feel the same way about San Francisco ('heavy' rather than 'thick' is font terminology) and, despite my aging eyes, I find that Myriad has better clarity.

  • Timepage calendar iPhone app by Moleskine adds style to events

Despite being a Mac user professionally since 1992, I only bought my very first mobile phone a few weeks ago (I'm 72 and been resisting smart technology for too many years). "Timepage" was the first app I purchased... partly because I've used Moleskine pocket notebooks and sketchbooks for many, many years so felt attracted, like with Apple's products and services, by their 'halo' effect. As the writer Mike says, the 'hot spots' are very cool... and as well as alternative car, bicycle and foot-plodding times to destinatiions, there's a 'wing-suit flyer' ETA indicated in split seconds!
