  • New York Times leaves Apple News over a lack of reader connection

snip... "the NYT business, which is enjoying higher digital subscriber revenue..."

I'm on the other side of the pond, in France, and immediately took up their 1-year digital subscription offer of $3 a month rising to $8 after one year, although that pricing seems very low for them to enjoy "higher revenue". However, and regardless of their political bias, I do like
their culture columns... and, three Sudokus a day from easy to hard to really wake me up before breakfast made the subscription price worth it for me.

  • Apple Watch Series 3 with & without cellular vs. Series 1: Which model is right for you?

You know, I have to agree with Neil's comments in the podcast. The red dot is really ugly and spoils the appearance of the Watch. I was horrified when I first saw it and it seems like a pointless distinction.  I don't care whether friends see the red dot and admire my Watch's 4G capabilities - I just want a plain Apple Watch.

Applying a grey sticker over over the red dot sounds like a great plan and I look forward to the first ever "grey dot sticker review"...
This "red dot" thing has a history much older than Apple. It has been used on Leica cameras since the 1960s... the logo being owned by Leica Microsystems IR GMBH who allow Leica Camera AG to use it. The "red dot" is held in such high regard by many if not most photographers using those premium German SLR and rangefinder cameras, that when the occasional model is released without that distinctive red dot logo - the M8 digital rangefinder in 2006 for example used a black logo - many of that community reacted literally in shock!

Maybe Jony Ive is a long-time Leica owner and wanted to add a subtle 'touch of distinction' to the Watch design?

  • Apple's biggest introduction on Tuesday: Apple Park

Curious about the invitation to the event. Does it include a map and instructions on how to find the theater? Parking info? Watching the drone footage it seems to me that first time visitors, particularly those in cars, might experience a bit of confusion.
I use the "what3words.com" system to describe to friends exactly (to within 3 meters) where and how to reach the front door of my very rural abode in France.

(On a sarcastic note for that other crowd... Apple sheeple will no doubt blindly follow one another to the infinite loop and thereafter...)

  • Apple hires former Porsche race car director for alleged 'Project Titan' role

"While at Porsche, Hitzinger returned the company to endurance racing, and assisted in development of the 919 hybrid sports car. Hitzinger's command led the company to Le Mans and endurance racing world championships in 2015 and 2016."

The Porsche 919 is a great car, with both a gasoline engine and an electric motor. I drove one. That is, I drove the 919 at Real Racing 3, on AppleTV.
Yup... for a 2-litre 4-cylinder car, it sure goes! When my first Bialetti of the day is brewing I sometimes play this YouTube vid of a 919 testing at Monza...

Love the sounds of the three downflicks of gears from around 200mph... only 50 metres before most bends!
