  • iPhone marketshare dips to 14.8% amid tougher Chinese competition, Gartner says

For those who believe the iPhone 7 will take care of the sales slump, why do you think that? The displays have already been boosted, which whether you want to believe it or not was a big selling point to the iPhone 6. Every rumor points to Apple not using AMOLED this year, and there's nothing I've seen about increasing pixel density which people like. The CPU on the iPhone 6 and 6s are insanely powerful and nobody using those devices are wanting for a faster experience. Apple can say "40% faster GPU!" and it doesn't matter. Apps don't use the hardware that is even there.

And with all that, Apple has serious services challenges. iCloud is fine, but the competition is getting much better. Google's cloud along with it's new AI assistant is just way too good. Ever take a picture with Google photos? It uploads unlimited amounts of photos for free, uses machine learning to know if your pictures are certain people, pets or areas. It can then group them, make albums and memories without you having to do it.

There is a reddit post talking about how Google is doubling down on things Apple can't follow. Google has decided to use Apple's privacy stance as a weapon against them. The Snowden's of the world have not touched Google's stock, and now the company is just going to roll out AI in everything including their new Google Home product, something Apple hasn't done.

Without services that compete with Google, how does Apple grow beyond hardware? Way too many posts point to subsidized Chinese manufacturers making inroads, and too many rumors point to an Apple phone that is removing features and not implementing crucial ones. Is the hardware going to save the day again?

I'm skeptical. I think this is might be the big non-s release that doesn't cut it and you're going to see some executive shakeups in the company.

  • I/O 2016: Google Allo smart messenger and Duo video calling coming to iOS, Android this summer

kind of my thoughts too. While it's suppose to learn your personality and how you would typically respond, I want to believe that the Universe isn't deterministic and prefer my chat program wouldn't be either. Google might be stretching on this. I'll stick with Whatsapp. They'll kill the program when it doesn't catch on in 2 years anyway.

  • I/O 2016: Google launches Android N beta with speed boosts, VR hooks & iOS-drawn improvements

As a Google fan it was definitely a snoozer. Googe's sad attempts at chat at this point is borderline cringe-worthy. Google has released, butchered, released chat apps that nobody uses because nobody uses it. The new "surprise! here's my dick!" feature for their video calling app i'm sure will be groundbreaking.

Google Home is long overdue and most Googlers have wondered why it took Google this long to develop. So far it looks very, very similar to Echo so in that sense it was kind of a snooze. I do like how it integrates with Chromecast and Chromecast audio.

    Android Wear Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Google Daydream - Kind of cool, but i'm more interesting in VR experiences from Occulus that use real GPUs and not weak mobile chips.

Android N - Great update, but everything they talked about I've already played with on the beta on my Nexus 6P. Nothing new there.

  • Despite Q2 sales dip, Apple's Macs, iPad and iPhone continue to outperform the industry

It's a really bad idea to be a fanboy and a shareholder of the same company. To financially invest in something you need to use as a clear of a head as possible and be reasonable. Rather than being angry at the markets and how they work, you have to accept them. Rather than being angry at a competitor because it's an I Win You Lose mentality, you should check their marketprice.

All of this spouting by DED and here's the facts.

If you invested $10,000 last in Apple last year because you read DED's apple stroking editorials, you're down 30%.

If you invested $10,000 in the much despised Google and how doomed they are and unprofitable they are, you'd be up 25%

A 55% spread. Being an investor and an irrational fanboy don't go well together. If you put $5000 in one stock and $5000 in the other, you'd have staved off "peak Apple" and likely will make your money back in the next few years anyway. Investing is a long term affair, and nobody should sell it now. Might even be a good idea to buy some more.

If you're a huge Apple fan, put money in the stock but try to use your head and consider that markets aren't as simple as who makes more money gets a higher stock price, and beating your head against the wall about it isn't going to make your retirement any more fruitful.

  • Apple Music UI to go grayscale, add better support for lyrics - report

The effects of Forestall not running the show anymore are starting to bleed into the UI. Steve kept him around for a reason.
