  • Bids for the 'world's first USB-C iPhone' eclipse $85,000 on eBay

We're already at the point where we don't even need a port.  We are wireless for everything we need - charging, airpods, and syncing with our PC.

Again, do people go into Denny's looking for pancakes from IHOP?  When you're in Apple's App Store and you're looking for Spotify app, Apple Music shouldn't be the 1st search result, especially when Apple's App Store is the ONLY place to get Spotify.
Not sure what you mean.  If I search for Spotify in the App Store, I don't see any Apple products at all, much less Apple Music.

  • Brazil will fine Apple again for not including charger with iPhone 13

I hope Brazil wins, chargers are like 3-4x the price out there than they are for Americans. It’s not fair at all.
What's not fair? That you don't get what you don't pay for.
Maybe you should be more concerned with the ridiculously high tariffs and import duties on the chargers.
Charging a phone is an essential process needed to make the phone work. Not selling a phone with all the necessary components is strange indeed. Not everyone has a dozen USB chargers in their kitchen junk drawers waiting for use, which is probably more likely in poorer countries.
I seriously doubt that people in poorer countries are buying iPhone 13s en mass.  We have probably 10 USB chargers for the 2 phones we have.  We certainly don't need anymore.

As far as @soundsinmotion is concerned, I would rail against your countries ridiculous tariffs for goods, not the company making them.

  • South Korea ends Apple, Google control of app store payments

This will have far reaching effects, so really hope Apple & Google simply pull the app-store from South Korea.
    I

100% agree. Pull the stores and leave South Korea scrambling until consumers rip the government a new one for trying to fix something that wasn’t broken. People retaliating against this legislation will prevent other countries from attempting to do the same. Allowing alternative stores opens up the platform to a world of hurt. There’s a reason I don’t use Android. I don’t want my experience as a consumer to be ruined or compromised because some clueless government bureaucrats half way around the world went on some bullshit self righteous crusade in seek of good press.
Just because other app stores are allowed, doesn't mean that you have to download apps from them.  Stick with the Apple app store, and there is no change for you (or me).  I would never go to another app store other than Apple's, so not a big deal to me.  If people want to be stupid and download unknown apps from another site, that is on them, and one thing I really hope Apple does is have some sort of disclaimer that if you do, you may void your warranty.

  • ACLU sues for information about FBI iPhone unlocking capabilities

    sflocal said:
What they find out today may be completely irrelevant in six months or a year.  As attack vectors are constantly being created, old holes closed only for new ones to be discovered, what the ACLU discovers now will be irrelevant after the next OS upgrade.

I'm a little mixed about this.  I demand privacy, yet if the FBI has some way of breaking into a terrorist's phone using some temporary exploit, I dunno... ugh.
Why ugh?  The FBI still has to obtain a court order to unlock the phone.  They cannot simply willy nilly unlock whatever they please whenever they please.
