Facebook-backed study claims default apps dominate on iPhone, Android
This is nonsense. Apple phone, Apple camera, apple photos, Apple clock, Apple notes, Apple messages, etc, are all apps that should be pre installed. These are basic functions of any phone. I shouldn’t have to choose which clock, calculator, phone keypad to use.If I need more functionality than basic, then I can search the App Store. Competing apps must offer something more advanced or different than existing basic apps. -
Apple shouldn't use privacy & security to stave off competition, EU antitrust head warns
"I think privacy and security is of paramount importance to everyone," Vestager said. "The important thing here is, of course, that it's not a shield against competition, because I think customers will not give up neither security nor privacy if they use another app store or if they sideload."So who gets to approve these alternate app stores and the apps that are in them? Will these app stores also be liable for any damage caused to the iPhone? -
