I find it hard to believe that the new iPads would be released:
*after the earnings report 2 May (iPad sales will be woeful last quarter); and
*just prior to WWDC, so after the first week of May might as well wait.
Thus, if I was to do a slightly less than wild arsed guess, toss tha dart on the  board I would still go for April sometime. And my own bias wants that of course as I have the cash sitting there ready and my old M2 IPP is gone and the backup will be getting old.

TBF, exploring ways to overcome areas where EVs are, how shall we say it? severely lacking, is precisely what Tesla is doing with the cybertruck. And hey, if you are going to experiment, might as well do it with flair.

IPadOS is what is holding it back. Otherwise it is my ideal portable when I need something more flexible than a iPhone. Natural disaster work in the field it is hands down the best device. My field set up is a 13 mini and an 11 inch IPP.
anyhoo, my wishes are mostly OS related. The biggest being the file management system. It has slowly, slowly improved over last few years,  but really, it should be at least the equivalent to finder to MacOS, if not better.
multitasking and windowing is still difficult. At least you can do it now,  but it  still is a pain and not intuitive.
Multi user support. This is a key stopping point to widerspread workplace adoption.  

With the no doubt massive mark up for a matte screen, you could buy several years worth of Apple Polishing Cloths.

Well this sucks. I have to give up my work issued IPP on Friday as I am changing jobs. Was hoping to set up a transfer to a brand new personal one before then.
If supplies of 12.9 inch are constrained, no real reason to delay the 11 inch.
