    There was a point sometime far in the past that AI locked down feeds with unrestrained political speak that wasn’t actually related to the article at hand.  Sometimes I long for those days instead of all the Orange Man Bad / Elmo bashing; in this case Elmo has literally no control of anything, does he have the ear of the current administration, yes, can he make any decisions without being a Civil Servant, no.  But I guess this is the new normal for AI, I’ll keep reading the articles and watching the comments devolve into childish antics.

    Only problem with this statement is that Steve resigned from Apple in 1985 and wasn’t around for the majority of the 90’s.  As someone who remembers the fragmented product lines (Performa, Quadra, Centris, Mac II Series, PowerMac, etc.) of the 90’s I was glad when Steve came back and cleaned house.

    Personally I feel like the Apple product lineup of today is starting to become almost as bloated as the one back then. Will I continue to buy products sure, do I wish for a more streamlined product lineup absolutely!

    Walked into my local Apple Store yesterday to inquire about having the back glass on my iPhone 13 Pro Max replaced and I asked the three workers standing in the front of the store if under AppleCare they would only replace the glass (my preferred option) or if they would replace the whole device.  Out of the three none could answer for sure.  What you used to get in Apple Stores was knowledgeable salespeople that loved the products as much if not more than we did.  I’m not sure how unionized workers change that mentality and dynamic but I’d love to see the change.

  • UK Parliament calls for 50/50 streaming royalties split between artists and record labels

    So if the findings are that artists are making only 13% off of their music shouldn’t it be that the government enforce a 50/50 split across all distribution forms not just streaming (i.e. CD, Digital Sales, Streaming, etc.)? Wouldn’t that be the most “fair” to the artists?

    You don’t need to lower your mask, if you give it a second to not recognize your face it will give you the option to “Pay with Passcode”.  I agree it’s a bit annoying but there is an alternate way to do it.

    A patent holder claiming infringement can sue upstream and downstream in the supply chain.  They can sue one entity or several at different stages of involvement with the offending tech.  It's not how Apple implemented PanOptis' patented tech, it's that they did (claimed) implement it.  A patent holder can even sue end users.  Datatern infamously sued end users in an attempt to end-around Microsoft and SAP.
