  • Apple's video service needs to hit Android & desktop to impact revenue, says Macquarie

Doesn’t need to hit Android if it hits smart TVs (which looks like a certainty given major TV manufacturers adding support for AirPlay and Samsung adding iTunes).
I assume most smart TVs use Android... so Apple would not have to worry about developing a version as (given they are coming on board w/ AirPlay) the smart TV vendors will move to support the Apple content.

  • Apple releases iOS 12.1.3, macOS 10.14.3, watchOS 5.1.3, and tvOS 12.1.2

It's up and installing for me on iPhone, iPad as of 1:30 EST. I'll grab watchOS next.

    edit: watchOS also available.

  • Wish list: 9 new CarPlay features for iOS 12

Another Waze-or-death user here. Every time I rent a car with AirPlay (I don't buy new cars - nothing with AirPlay yet) I end up using Waze for navigation due to the social capabilities (marking stalls/accidents/police with a few buttons). You can ding me for doing it, but it's comparable to hitting Seek on your radio 3 times to find a station. And a whole lot more useful for all involved (i.e., "Car stopped on shoulder in .5 miles" == everyone w/ Waze slows down so they know what the problem is).

Until Apple gets reporting into their maps app, I'm not using it.

  • Alleged 'KRACK Attack' vulnerability threatens to lay bare Wi-Fi WPA-2 security

Given the way they work, I imagine VPNs render the attacks useless as well.

Misidentification might also be an issue, given how similar some smartwatches can look, and the fact that many people don't follow wearable technology that closely.
I personally think a LOT of people are starting to follow the smart watch industry, especially with Apple Watch Series 3 buzz. I would hazard a guess MOST people could recognize Apple Watch...it's quite distinct.

I don't think most folks have ever SEEN an Apple watch so it would not be surprising that it's simply a catch-all name just as some people call any smartphone an iPhone. FWIW I myself have never seen one in the wild (and there's a million people in my metro area) tho no doubt some customer of mine, or someone "the next table over" has been wearing one. I've just not ever noticed. If I was looking for them I might have.
How strange, in my southern city of 400,000 city limits / million major metro, I see them near daily. I know you're not very familiar with Apple products, would you know what one looked like?
I see Apple Watches fairly often (weekly?) - and make it a point to say 'nice watch' whenever I can. It's not just for the rich either...complemented the checkout woman at Food Lion (grocery store chain) and we got into a short conversation about Watch bands.
