Stolen devices do not exist in vast numbers, certainly not enough to matter is any significant way. Apple should do nothing beyond what they already do—activation lock exists, and is widely known to deter theft.

The response from the Apple engineer doesn’t address the actual issue. This isn’t a case of system services collecting information for core services. It appears to be possible for individual apps to collect location data even when the user has disabled location services for that app.

Unless I am mistaken, Apple's documents say the location indicator appears next to apps and services that have used your location within the past 24 hours. So it doesn't matter if the user has disabled location services for an app until at least 24 hours have elapsed. I don't think Krebs said he did that.

I think you're missing the point. If the US government can divide the world into those two groups, Canada can do the same for "Canadians" and "non-Canadians", and the UK can do the same, and Australia and Russia and China and the EU and so on... But governments share data freely. The NSA can't spy on Americans, but Australia can--and they share with the NSA. In the end, everything is open to interception and no privacy remains. 

"Amazon appears to be taking aim at consumers willing to pay a premium for high quality sound." I would have said this is aimed at consumers willing too pay for higher bit rate sound. It's impossible to say what the quality of reproduction will be on individual equipment.

So essentially...a font store.
