South Korea ends Apple, Google control of app store payments
Well, now what Apple can do is to charge user for iOS software, if the user pays for iOS software, then they can do whatever they want include even side-loading. But if the user opt to use the free version of the iOS software, then they have to use Apple App Store and can only use the Apple's payment system. Apple needs to get money for it's efforts for the iOS development and all kinds of SDKs etc one way or the other. That seems to be fair to me. I am guess 99.5% people would go the free iOS route. -
Apple employees express concern over new child safety tools
Apple made a good compromise in implementing this feature. Apple has figured out a very creative way to protect users privacy yet be able to spot a potential crime at the same time. This is a good demonstration of how end to end encryption can be used but potential crime can still be spotted. Now what I do wonder is whether governments would latch onto this innovative solution and ask Apple to save a digest of each conversation/iMessage etc, and also come up likewise solutions to have Apple save evidences. The good thing is so Apple is transparent about is approach and we can all decide whether it is a good solution or not. -
