  • Apple Campus 2 construction site shown off in massive 1.7-gigapixel aerial image

What did he do?...  had the foresight to keep an eye on that HP property, and when it came up for sale, purchased it... rumour has it that Steve Jobs once worked at HP, and maybe even at that site before Apple existed as a company... in any case Steve Jobs lived in the area and knew about that HP property, so he was  instrumental in purchasing the land.

What did he do?...he showed up at city hall to show respect for the town leaders in an effort to streamline the approval.
The Late Steve Jobs did NOT have to show up at city hall to show his vision of Apple's headquarters.

And remember it was Steve Jobs last public appearance... (if i recall correctly) In any case Steve Jobs had terminal cancer at that time meaning very sick, and it required alot of effort For him to show up (nobody knew this at the time, only rumours that he was sick..)

(Remember to single empty seat in the front row at the unveiling of iPhone 4s?... the seat was  reserved for the Late Great Steve Jobs, who passed away just days after that unveiling...

OTOH, worst case, since Tim Cook was "running the company" Steve Jobs feld useful going to that meeting.

  • Pundits believe Apple's Jony Ive no longer involved in iPhone, Mac product design [u]

Is this what it has come to?. Everybody lies?...
well, not exactly a lie but an assumption that ive is not designing iPhones/macs anymore...
IMO the headline should state "Ives new project is the Space campus"

SO, it seems that everybody does not care about what "assume" stands for...  you make an "ass" of "u" and "me"...
thus, twitter people don't care that they are donkeys.
Facebook does not like donkeys, and they are doing something about it.

  • Apple automatically uploading iPhone call logs to iCloud, forensics firm says [u]

One problem, the  handset is uncrackable...  The cloud back up is not!...  Apple will handover the cloud data with a court order ... and that data is decrypted easily.  (And A iphone handset is uncrackable Because you can't get to the data)

THEY WILL NOT DECRYPT A HANDSET...  but they will handover the iCloud data.  And the NSA has capabilities to decrypt that data...
So it looks like you will have to turn off iCloud back ups if you don't want your call logs to end up in the wrong hands...

  • Full transcript of Apple v. Samsung Supreme Court hearing illustrates case complexities

Samsung wants no damages because when the phones are off, there is not much difference. (samsung went to great lengths to make their phone look just like an iPhone when on. which is why Samsung should lose all profits for the sales of the phones. basing the profits lost on a empty shell is  ridiculous. that is what Samsung wants.

when a rug is rolled up (in  effect 'off'), it looks like almost any rug... but design patents don't cover the rug when it is rolled up, they cover it when it is unrolled (in effect on)...

noBody would be  confusing a Samsung phone with an iPhone if the insides or display were "Beyond a reasonable doubt" different. (NOT OFF)
But Samsung has a history of skirting all the design patents to make it just look like an iPhone but not an iPhone. people see past that and buy the Samsung phone...

TL;DR... samsung wants damages based on the phone off.
yet, people do not buy a phone for it to remain off.  Just like people do not buy a rug  and keep it unrolled and put it in their room...

Remember when the tech media was criticizing the iPhone for not having fast charging? LOL

Aside from not having fast charging. You've got people complaining about the removal of headphone jack when, apple used some of that freed up space to increase the battery capacity by 14% I believe (in iPhone 7). I'm not saying I'm a fan of losing the headphone jack; just that if you look at the reasons it was done, it's sensible. Not at all the best thing/idea at all since sliced bread, far from it, but sensible.

Instead or just trying to cram a larger battery in the same space, which is reportedly the issue with the Note 7.
"The chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission was more explicit when his agency announced an official recall on Thursday. He said the phone’s battery was slightly too big for its compartment and the tight space pinched the battery, causing a short circuit." Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-09-18/samsung-crisis-began-in-rush-to-capitalize-on-uninspiring-iphone

Which means that SAMSUNG was warned that the battery was too big to fit the phone.
(Probably by a low level supervisor... and ignored)
And because they were in a rush to get the phone out, they forced the issue, and said "do not worry"...
and they are in the situation they are now.
THEY COULD HAVE USED A month, in total, it get a thinner battery...
(BEFORE THE "fireworks" WENT OFF... instead "wow, look at all the pretty colors" )
when they should have stopped production, dump the batteries, get new thinner ones... but NO...
and here we are 18 BILLION dollars poorer.
