Microsoft China bans Android, demands staff use iPhones
ssfe11 said:Yup a Wall Gardened type of security does have its advantages.
The Walled Garden is not about security, but convenience. In computer science, it's well-known that the more convenience you have, the less security you intrinsically have. There's a direct correlation between the two. This is why Apple's business model has been so noticeable, because it flies in the face of that correlation. Apple users enjoy both increased security and increased convenience.
The security itself is rooted in the foundational architecture of the hardware and software.

ChatGPT for Mac app logged queries in an unencrypted file before getting caught
It's right there in the name, people.
"Open"AI.
Open for all to see.
But on a serious note, doesn't this reflect on Apple and macOS, too?
Maybe the operating system should be more openly surfacing where an app is writing data to? The Installer does a fine job of that, but maybe make that a standard feature for running apps. too? -
Man ludicrously blames Apple for his wife catching him communicating with prostitutes
To be fair to this gentleman, when you go to delete a conversation on an iPhone, it doesn't seem to delete for connected Macs, but if you delete from a Mac, it does offer to delete from all other devices. This inconsistency does seem to be a valid bug.
Deleting a conversation on Mac, we see this, but the same warning isn't seen on an iPhone when deleting the same conversation...Delete from all your devices?
This conversation will be deleted from all of your devices.

Apple Intelligence & Private Cloud Compute are Apple's answer to generative AI
It's too bad that they didn't delve further into the Private Cloud Computer and show some actual hardware and how it's different from other "Compute" solutions. What makes it secure? Saying that Swift makes it more secure is not really saying much. I'm guessing that they weren't quite ready to share more, but it was a missed opportunity.
