How to use iPad as a Mac replacement and why you'd want to
iPadOS is nowhere as powerful as MacOS.
VS Code cannot run.
You cannot open DMG.
You cannot run virtual machines.
You cannot use a terminal.
I mean, come on, iPadOS is very limited. It's more optimized for content consumption than creation although it has include some apps for creation, it's still limited.

Deleted images haunt iPhone users in Photos for iOS 17.5
I think the bug is that when you delete a file and you expect all devices to delete the image as well but a glitch is that somehow the devices aren't sync'd correctly and the deleted files aren't removed from ALL devices. If you still have devices that are holding the images but not yet deleted due to network inactivity, it may show up unexpectedly. I think you need to make sure ALL devices are active and all are synced for delete to work correctly. Also make sure all devices are not in your account if you no longer use them.
Syncing is an issue that surface a few times. It gets worse with increasing number of devices. -

iPad and Mac don't compete against each other, so buy both says Apple exec
Why is that people want iPad to be a Mac???
It's not a Mac. It's an iOS device and it's optimized for touchscreen UX. It makes a huge difference. Ever tried Windows on Surface? It's awkward. It's unnatural. It's clumsy. It's not intuitive and smooth.
Heck, I rarely mulitask on iPadOS even though they do that. I love focusing on a full screen with writing or watching or reading. I create content on a Mac and sometimes my iPad for "wacom" use.
iPadOS is becoming more and more featured but it won't become a MacOS. Never will.
