  • Some Apple HomeKit setups are breaking after iOS 16.2 update

HomeKit is sorely behind on many features that should be included.

First, they need to have a clear way for users to access to logs. There is none.

Second, they need to visually present the user what is expected with an automation. There's none.

Third, they need to provide "Accessories" in sidebar which they don't. The accessories are hidden in "Home Settings" which make no sense at all.

Fourth, when they need to rebuild HomeKit network, they need to have a "log" of all accessories. There's none.

  • iCloud for Windows users see corrupted iPhone videos with mystery images

Just exactly how is it even remotely possible? You cannot inject corrupted images into videos or visa versa as they have fundamental differences in processing images.

  • Apple's entire iPhone 14 Pro lineup has historically long wait times

Wasn't it just a month ago or so that analysts say the demand was lackluster. And now, we obviously see that the demand is much higher and have unusually long wait times.

  • Meross launches its first Matter smart plug with 50% discount

Requires WiFi? No thanks. WiFi consumes a hundred times more power and it makes no sense to waste so much energy when Thread is up to a thousand times more power efficient. Also, unlike Wifi plugs, Thread plugs (like Eve) function as a router for all Thread products and increases the resiliency of Thread networks and can extend the network. Why do we need WiFi if it's just transmitting small data packets? Meross makes great products but the combo of energy efficiency, Matter, and robust network connectivity such as Thread (when large data bandwidth is not necessary) are very crucial for my purchase decisions. That's why I only get Thread devices from Eve and hope to see more competition for Thread-enabled devices. WiFi is best for devices that need large data transfers (security videos) and thankfully, ultra low power WiFi technology exists but I am not seeing widespread adoption yet.

  • Key staff driving Apple search engine leave to rejoin Google

I read that Apple's privacy is so difficult to make search results relevant to what users want to look for. That caused issues with engineers trying to determine the accuracy of search. After all, how can you really know what they are looking for if they cannot see data that's been encrypted?
