It’s not a bad thing, but you’ll have to do a little work and digging to find out what your USB-C ports are capable of doing and make sure the cables you select are compatible with the functionality you expect.

It's not really mysterious. 

The goal of USB4 being the requirement is to stop cable waste. The law doesn't require that devices have to meet the full speed specs. Higher speed often means more power. With USB-C cables, you are guaranteed that you'll have the minimum specs met for the cable, not for the device. It does state that it must be labeled for its capacities. 

I very much welcome the mandate. I am tired of dealing with different cables. Also, it should mandate that for many appliances, not just computers like beard trimmers, electric brushes, et al. I am sick of losing cables for them. With the USB4, I'd never have to deal with that. 

That is awesome. That's why Apple Watch is a lot more important than people think - it can detect abnormal heart rate and it can detect crashes. They can literally save your life.

Not really. It's remarkably competitive. 

And if you already owned iPad Pro, you can trade in for credit. 

I traded my old iPad Pro for M2 and the credit is $400.... so the $1100 becomes $700. 

Hardly "expensive" given its superior performance and quality. It will last for three years for me which turns out to be around $20 a month.

Let's see... the tiktoker had a creative project and retrofitted modern devices with iconic old enclosures and sells them for $1000 each... and many were sold out.

Unfortunately, you still need Apple HomePod mini or AppleTV for the border router. The Matter hub will direct all Matter devices to AppleTV or HomePod mini so they will appear on Home app.
