  • Apple rumored to be testing macOS for M2 iPad Pro

I can see it easily ported to M2 iPad Pro with today's MacOS - they have the same codebase.

But here's the problem - Touch UI.

The current MacOS is not optimized for Touch.

So it may mean that the MacOS elements will be modified for touch screen and the size of MacOS may be smaller than the regular desktop - eliminating all the legacy drivers and programs that iPad Pro does not need (which MacOS has a lot of them).

  • Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell won't get HomeKit Secure Video after all

Interesting. Never knew that Apple requires 30fps video for analysis, that is pretty resource extensive and seems to waste so much for nothing. It should be around 5fps idling and if motion is detected, go 30fps until it's no longer detected.

  • Apple chose a bad year to launch expensive iPads that aren't compelling

Remember iPad Pro A12 to A12Z where the only difference is the GPU speed?

M2 is much faster than M1 compared to the upgrade from A12 to A12Z. Both CPU and GPU are increased significantly from M1 to M2. The WiFi increased as well allowing people to transfer big files in less time.

The fact that the cost stays the same is surprising considering that the prices keep going up. It's likely the next iteration will see a price hike for more features.

The pencil hover is not a "gimmick" - it's very useful and I've thought about it many times how it would be nice to have that feature. It will make the UX more pleasant and will likely be used for future iterations of iPads.

Should people with M1 upgrade? Definitely no for a vast majority of them. Will they notice if they upgrade from A12Z? Unlikely unless they're using it for content creation where they would definitely notice speed improvements.

I own A12Z and I don't see any reason for me to upgrade - it is still responsive and fast and does everything I need. I read, I write notes, and I watch videos occasionally. I don't use it to make videos or photo editing although they can be used for that. I prefer to use my iMac 27 for that.

  • New Apple TV 4K with A15, HDR10+, more storage debuts

Wow! A spec bump and a cheaper price I must be in an alternate universe.
The spec bump comes with a spec thump... no Thread.
I see Thread support for premium model. It's literally right on the apple website:

    Thread networking support ...

    https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-4k/specs/

But I like the fact that now it says it works with any Thread-enabled Matter accessories... it used to say it only works with HomeKit devices:
    1. Compatible with HomeKit- or Matter‑enabled Thread accessories only. Thread‑based accessories require a Thread‑enabled home hub, such as Apple TV 4K or HomePod mini, or a third‑party Thread border router.

  • Apple's 10th-gen iPad arrives with more speed & new colorful design

I cannot believe they keep using the 1st Gen Pencil. Having owned it with 1st Gen Pencil, it was the worst stylus in history of Apple. Who the hell puts it inside the port to recharge when it should be wirelessly recharged? It makes it vulnerable to damage.

I just cannot recommend iPads that don't support 2nd Gen Pencils.
