Lamenting the loss of the adorable 12-inch MacBook

#237 12" MacBook. Well, outside of a store I've never seen a 12" MB in the wild. Not one. Not Ever.
So "adorable"? Apparently not by many.
I've been thinking about getting one for my significant other, who suffers from ME/CFS and finds her 13" Pro a bit too much to haul around. Just wondering what the best way to work out a trade with someone might be, or if she should just be on an iPad Pro. -
Texture app shutting down on May 28 in wake of Apple News+ launch
This is one of the areas where Apple may find some risk. This is a news platform. There is no real reason this should not be available on Android or Windows platforms. Tying services revenue to your own hardware still puts some limits on your ability to maximize revenue. I know plenty of people who have iPads and Android phones. The new News app renders the magazines really well. Those people may well like the ability to read on their Android phones during the day without needing the iPad. -
Apple restores Facebook enterprise certificates following 'Facebook Research' fallout
I personally believe Apple did this just to show the impact if this happens again. Both companies need each other too much to let this spiral out of control. Like it or not, many people would get rid of their iOS devices if the Facebook nonsense was removed. WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and the main app are like oxygen for many people. And without iOS, how much are those ads really worth on Facebook given the historical difference between Android and iOS revenue per user? But for the record, I think Facebook is awful and the leadership is corrupt. I did some brief consulting out there when I worked for a consulting firm and it was like a cult. -
Apple's guidance correction in China would be great news from Samsung

I’ve been very impressed with Apple’s A Series performance benchmarks, but do they really matter? What App’s need those kind of horses?
I think the most exciting thing in the pipeline is the A Series APU running MacOS. An always connected MacBook Air (sold through a wireless provider) has some appeal.
I’ll probably do nothing until I see what iOS 13 looks like. iOS 12 runs fine on my iPad, but it’s more a “stability” release than innovative.
It will probably be a decision of a MacBook Air vs. a 12.9” IPad in 2020.
Apple says they have innovate products in the pipeline, but I have little need for a watch or speaker, etc. If I have some disposable income the AirPods are pretty cool...
I don’t see Android a viable alternative and I don’t think most Apple users do either, but Apple does need to innovate to keep their margins. Apple’s biggest headwind is this “trade war” it seems more like a ‘punish China’ thing rather than negotiation for free trade (fair trade). -
What's new in iOS 12.1 beta 2 -- bug fixes, emoji, and charging fix
I wonder if this addresses the poor Wifi and LTE I have been experiencing. I used SpeedTest last night in my house against a generic Motorola phone I use for music on the treadmill and the Moto blew the XS Max out of the water on Wifi. The phone is really slow on Wifi and LTE is borderline useless some times. I hope this isn't a hardware flaw like some articles have pointed out.
