  • Apple event invite inspires wild speculation about 'iPhone 7' iris scanning, bokeh, more

I received a Note 7 for work. The Iris scanning is not that good and I turned it off almost immediately. TouchID on the iPhone is really fast, so fast they had to announce iOS 10 features to allow you to see the screen. Iris scanning is not necessary imo.

  • Beijing patent ruling unlikely to hurt Apple in China, RBC & Piper Jaffray say

Many American companies are going to find out that the China miracle was just a mirage. How anyone can think they can predict what will happen in a pure dictatorship is pure folly. This is a country that militarily, politically, and socially is opposed to the US in almost every conceivable way. Yet Apple and hundreds of other companies count on China as the next big thing. China is trying to goose its own companies to become world leaders. It will do this by blocking foreign companies from getting too powerful on the mainland.

They might have as well flushed that $26B down the toilet.
I agree. Useless.  Linkedin is nothing but a toy.  I've never gotten anywhere with it, and I've been on it for years.  It's a site where we all get to pretend we're in some important network of professionals.   Good luck, MicroShaft.
It's a way for companies to screen resumes. They use it to see when you graduated to figure out how old you are. Then they can filter you out. It is a joke. But I love getting "endorsed" for my skills from people I don't even know...  :)

  • Apple's iPhone is no Blackberry: a closer look at AI and the world's biggest company

The Android vs iOS argument is very weak. I agree with the author that comparing profits is really all that matters in the long run. Also, the Android platform is really only good enough if you are not a serious app user. I use Android regularly as part of my job. Once you load apps up, the phone (even the newest flagships) crawl. Cache fills up, junk all over. It is a smart phone platform for people who only need to use the web, maps, and text. Android never matched Apple in the "app polish" category. If the game changes from apps (a big IF), then Apple may have a challenge. But for now, Android is architecturally an inferior OS.

  • Apple Stores suffering from 'cult' atmosphere, advancement barriers, says UK staffer

I actually went to the Genius Bar yesterday for an iPhone proximity sensor issue. Every single customer there was nasty and pissed off. I tried to explain to one customer while we were waiting that just resetting and restoring from an iCloud backup will not necessarily solve a problem because the corruption could be in the backup itself. With no understanding of technology, the customer blamed Apple for this as well...
