  • Law firm that extracted $450M settlement in Apple e-books case is going after company for ...

    The $450 million settlement from Apple over e-book price fixing was enabled by the success of the United States of America v. Apple Inc. antitrust case in which the Court held that Apple Inc. conspired to raise the price of e-books. It was a controversial decision. I personally doubt that there will be a successful case here against Apple on the batteries but this is a strange world these days.

  • Apple and Samsung headed back to court for iPhone patent damages retrial

    You would think this was over years ago. I have this image of aging, white haired Apple and Samsung lawyers using canes and walkers, still going to court over phones that have not been built for 50 years.

  • Apple Watch GPS functionality target of latest Uniloc patent lawsuit

    Nothing will change until patent laws change. It is hard to see how there can be damage to these entities that do not create an actual product ie. they are losing sales and money. Why is there is so much IP allocated into 'concepts without translation into actual products?  My guess is that hungry lawyers are at the root cause.

  • Unsupported iTunes 12.6.3 enterprise version allows for app management, installation

    You can install this version of iTunes 12.6.3 but not over previously installed version 12.7 directly. You will be asked to 'download' the new version once installed.
    I had to downgrade from 12.7 to 12.6 and then install 12.6.3. You can not use Time Machine to go back. While instructions on how to 'downgrade iTunes' are straightforward, it requires Terminal and sudo commands to delete the iTunes app, then replacing the iTunes Library.itl file from a previous version .. then installing 12.6.3  - easy but not something most will likely feel comfortable doing. I have quite a few older iPads around our household so having app management in iTunes remains useful for me.

  • Review: Koogeek P1 Smart Plug an affordable way to get started with Apple's HomeKit

    @williamlondon ;

    From AppleInsider Guide to posting on these forums (link provided below):

    1) We definitely want you to: Share unique perspectives, opinions, or insights based on your experience.  -  Bocaboy and I were both within guidelines in sharing our insights and experiences using TP-Link and "stupid timers you plug into the wall" as you put it.

    2) Veer things off-topic. A slight diversion is OK deeper into the comments, but we will use our judgment here.  -  As you can see there is no hard line when it comes to going "off-topic" if it was really that far off-topic I'm sure the Editors would have removed our postings.

    3) When all else fails, just remember - be civil! Don't say things here that you wouldn't say face-to-face. -  Based on the tone of your reply and the choice of words you used, I'd say your post was pretty much what they don't want to see in these forums

    Thank you

    I think you are making this into something bigger than it deserves. The author talked about Koogeek as being a good entry into Homekit. I agree. Bocaboy did not have an opinion about Koogeek (I suspect he has not used one) apart from advising us to stay away from Homekit, and promoting 'another' home automation system and several devices that do not work with Homekit. Really? I pointed  this out in my post and suggested we comment about Koogeek and Homekit, to be of use to those who have an interest in Koogeek switches. I am sure that AI will (or has had) articles comparing Homekit and the other systems mentioned.  I would welcome comments on merits of each by someone who had actually used both, in an objective comparison - not some glib dismissal of Koogeek without supporting facts or personal experience. I think it is great that we have choices in home automation and hope that prices will come down with competition from companies like Koogeek. I liked the article :)
