  • US TSMC probe puts iPhone chips at risk

    This is a ludicrous report....

This is stock manipulation at its finest. Funny how it was issued on the day the world found out Apple sold 20% MORE iPhones in China than last year and the stock soared.

Please stop contributing to stock manipulation.
Perhaps, but I think there is more to this story than stock manipulation.  I presume that it has already been determined there are 'current' TSMC chips in 'current' Huawei phones. They should not be there of course. The question would be, given the implications for being caught, how could TSMC have been so careless to have allowed this ? The sheer size of the order should have raised suspicion, regardless of how well the buying agent was disguised.

  • EU Apple Pay antitrust action is complete, after NFC opened to competitors

I am not looking for more apps asking for access to my financial information. Given how uninformed my own bank is on any technical issues, I would hardly trust them with NFC. I trust Apple and I like the convenience of Apple Pay. Consumers will vote of course but the banks and other vendors will need to buy the votes as they won't win on security or convenience imo.
Consumers will vote with their wallets  ;)

The reality is we are more likely to see banks that already have Wallet/Payment systems on Android moving to iPhones.

If they haven't had security issues on Android, their is little to no reason to believe they will have issues on iPhones.

Funny. Actually we do not know what security issues have occurred with digital wallets, be it Apple or Android. Banks are tight lipped about such things. But I think the situation with Apple users switching to another wallet is quite different than Android users who were given choices at the start. What would compel anyone to switch from Apple Pay other than financial incentives and promotions?

  • EU to settle Apple Pay NFC probe after Apple's concessions

It’s hard to see how consumers benefit from allowing banks to set up their own wallets. It is, however, easy to see how banks benefit.

It will be interesting to look at Curve’s wallet. Can I put concert tickets, ID cards, boarding passes and other non-financial items into their wallet? If so, will they properly safeguard my information? If not, do I need to use multiple wallets and how do I choose between them?

For all of this extra headache, I get ???? benefits? Still waiting to hear on that.

I have gone through the experience of having way too many apps to control smart devices. Apple Home did not solve this but Home Assistant did. Similarly I will stay with Apple Wallet for convenience and security. I really can't see how I can be persuaded to use multiple apps for NFC access.

Unaware of the harm that is being caused to them.

For a fact, most iPhone users are very happy with their choice, don't have any issues of note, and frankly, don't fucking care about what you care about. Certainly, the EU is less concerned about security, than Apple is.

Thank you Avon. Very insulting of tmay to suggest we can't possible be 'aware' and happy with the status quo.
