  • Consumer Reports finds iPhone XS and XS Max last hours longer than iPhone X, contradicts p...

Good to see these results.  I was really annoyed when I came across several sites with tests showing stupid results.  Im like, I have the XS Max and its battery from to day is obscenely better than my X or the the 7+ before it.  As I type this now, my max is sitting at 75% remaining on iOS 12.1.b2.... at 9pm AZ at night.  I think they have the battery thing good....   just sayin

  • First look: Apple's bionic iPhone X with Face ID

The Verge seemed to complain about Face ID outdoors. Any thoughts AI or they are just being picky?
My thoughts; the Verge was being picky.
The Verge test in sunlight had the iPhone X at belt height next to the belt. That logically would be the edge of the range of the Face ID system.
After all, at belt height / next to the belt this is testing the unlock system while looking up at a person's chin.
But this is not Chin ID. It is Face ID.
Logically, if in bright lighting, the iPhone X should be moved up to eye level so that the system can clearly recognize the face of the user.
As far as I know the iPhone X will work at eye level even in bright sunlight.
I thought the 'exact' same thing.  Simply not using it right.  Also, by default, FaceID requires your attention in order to function for security purposes.  However, there is an option you can toggle off in settings that allows you to completely loosen it up and have it 'not' actually require your attention.  I'm guessing that option would cut down on failure rate, but also greatly increase unintended unlocks.

  • As rumors of custom Apple MacBook CPUs persist, Microsoft teases ARM Windows laptops with ...

I think a lot of folks are missing what the Apples SoCs are 'really' capable of when considering Laptops/Desktops.  We have seen benchmarks of a chip that is designed to be in a phone perform or outperform MacBook Pro LVM processors.  Thats a chip designed not for a laptop but a phone with a very tight thermal envelope and no active cooling.

Apple would very likely design a new chip specifically for use in Laptops based on their current A-series chips, but like everything they do, it would be tailored for that purpose much like the A--X series processors are tailored to iPads.  Re-vistiting the A11 as a laptop processor with large thermal envelope and active cooling would translate into some absolutely major performance over what we see from the phone benchmarks.

Apple, and its manufacturing partners, are also lightyears ahead of Intel when it comes to packaging/manufacturing as well.  The A11 being at 10nm and TSMC/Apple already working on 7nm for next year.  They're getting so good at this that I wouldn't be surprised at all if they develop their own dedicated core just for managing x86 emulation needs.

  • Quick charging the iPhone 8 and iPhone X requires at least $70 in accessory purchases

This is complete garbage. You don’t need a laptop charger for quick charging. All you need is a cheap iPad charger. Seriously, I can’t believe I’m even seeing this article.

Furthermore, with 10-15$ Qi pad at work and home in a few spots, you can very easily keep things topped off.

  • Qualcomm says Android always first to new technology, takes aim at iPhone X features

Good gawd, I'm surprised they put out a statement like this.  Here is a list of Android firsts across a 10+ devices that were all a joke.  Tomorrow we will see the culmination of that list in a single device that is actually awesome, polished, highly functional, and highly useful..... not to mention better by a mile in every single way.

Its not about being first, its about being the best and being right.  And in many cases Apple is first; however, even when they are, they still don't drop it on us until its ready to be the best.
